I worked as an animator in video games, TV, movies, and theme park rides. At 90% of the places all of the animators were treated really badly. To the point of major labor violations. But everyone was afraid to report them for fear of getting blacklisted. The main thing is being forced to work 80-90 hours a week for an "ok" amount of money if it was only 40 hours. Most places didn't give sick days, vacation days, etc. In fact, one place told us that they don't pay us for official holidays, and when one fell on a Wednesday, they only paid us for 4 days of work that week, even though they had us come in on that day, and actually every day that week.

I left the business about 15 years ago, and most people I know that are still in the biz are getting paid the same or less than I used to get paid 15 years ago. They told me the working conditions and long hours are still very much the norm.

Be aware if you get into this line of work for other companies, it is hard work, and in most places you will be treated like a robot, and at any minute, your job could be taken away and sent over seas. So save your money, and be prepared to be out of work often.

5:30 "“Life itself is like a job interview. You never know what good impression you'll make on someone and then that person will refer you exactly for you dream job.” 😊 Nice interview. I found your work ethic and life attitude very inspiring.

I started working on my project and then started thinking about animating it and thought it's a waste of time to become an animator and I was right. It's better to own an animation studio with amazing animators as the core staff that can quickly outsource or upscale. That's also one of the only ways I'll get my story out there without having it heavily censored.

Is it me or do you click on a video without looking at how long it is and then be surprised by how long it is.

I have always been an animator that struggles with knowing how much rest and work i need.

Even in my most recent clip, I gotta know when to stop, And rest or keep working before stress hits WAY too much

As a Canadian Studio animator for the past few years, this was an interesting view on what it's like in US/California. Porkky has got it going on! I hope he keeps up, his momentum is inspiring

This was a really inspiring video! I love the concept of working very hard to something you're passionate about!! Though after seeing this I would much rather be freelance simply because I want to do animations to tell my own stories. Great video!!!
