I'm size 9 and personally I don't put my left foot heel down while lifting the clutch. Each to their own. 👍

I passed my test but I'm scared to drive alone and stall my car, I might have to practise that heel on the floor technique, I've been doing the floaty foot all this time but I'm not confident yet and I have small feet lol

The piece of footwork that improved my driving was to stop using the foot rest to the left of the clutch. It's slightly behind the pedal, so every time I'd try to press it, I'd kick it slightly from behind and it'd put me in a tizz as the clutch was a second or two too slow in going down. Instead, I now rest my foot on the floor, in front of the clutch. Makes it much easier to use.

Very curious about this technique for raising the clutch. I have been driving manual for 4 years and have always done it by anchoring my heel and moving me ankle like a pivot, this rides the pedal up the foot though, and leads me to having to wiggle back down when I have to clutch half way and back and half way and back (happens every single day for me) I live in town with traffic). So I was looking into utilizing the clutch with an elevated heel and I can’t use the anchor technique for driving barefoot or in sandals because the Sandler will slide off and barefoot is very grippy this the pedal cannot slide. I’ve also heard people saying the anchor technique is bad practice too..

I work in a hospital. I frequently see paramedics dropping off patients and wonder how they drive in their chunky shoes.
