Will Kenya's EU deal affect East African unity?

A new trade deal with the EU is the most comprehensive Kenya has ever signed. And at 25 years long it certainly has longevity.
But has it put unity with its east African partners at risk, and endangered regional stability?

Its bs to say we Kenyans cannot add value to flowers, fruits and vegetables, so much can be done to brand a flower, or an avocado or coffee, Mexicans have created a brand with their avocados, the french with wine we can do the same with our coffee, tea, avocados and flowers ... mnatuuza majuu

The deal is super though the Ugandan president wouldn’t like to sign since his so corrupt and he would like to see local people suffering

Prime minister Ruto? Why would anyone continue watching the rest of the program if you can get basic info like this wrong?

@14:50 There seems to be a confusion there: Ethiopia is not a member of the East African Community. Second I wonder: the EAC is a customs union. How is Kenya able to cut a deal separately with the EU in spite of the existence of a Common external tariff agreement between all EAC members?

So they sneak out and went back to sign a copy and paste agreement that they already had through the EAC. They are not scared to be colonised again. 😮😮

If we can't achieve common network simplest thing to do do you think a bigger step will take place EAC making is just a way of saying i need you to buy this and sell me that,

Kenya was right to go on with the agreement. Being a middle income country and other partner states being low income countries couldn’t access European market duty free quota free while other partner states can access the market without signing. Dumping is not an issue for Kenya as the Trade remedies agency should be able to have a solution to it. Ethiopia is not a member of EAC! Kenya couldn’t afford to lose the EU market. The Kenyan guy needs to be informed

That’s what makes the EAC not to live to its potential. EU thought they will access EAC market through Kenya’s back door, that will never happen. No one will take advantage of Africans again. Those eras have long gone 😅

I really agree with Edgar: kenya betrayed us the region to do individual trade agreements without consulting her partner states in EAC 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬

¿Cuáles son las letras pequeñas? Esto no es miel, ¿Estos productos las empresas son de los kenianos o los europeos que tienen el monopolio en el pais?

As a Kenyan I feel sad that our government is signing deals without taking into consideration the other members of EAC...EAC should not collapse because of our greedy again.

Besides; apart from Ovacado and tea, Kenya doesn’t have any other exports of its own. Many of their raw materials, food and minerals are got from Uganda & DRC!

Other countries in the EAC will just cut off Kenya and will see how they survive!

Would you please check well your data, Uganda has a lot that it offers to the rest of East Africa and if your to search Uganda produces milk and it comes at second after Algeria in Africa. When it comes to agricultural products no any other East African country does better than Uganda.Uganda and Tanzania do better in Agriculture than Kenya, so they should put a look in what they signed maybe it may bounce that way in a negative way.And stop talking about milk vegetables fruits ands foods because no anyother country is better than Uganda when it comes to food.

To the Question... "Will Kenya EU deal affect Unity of East Africa "? Your answer is no East Africa is going to become a new superpower country, constitution is underway and monetary institutions are being instituted . We are bound by more than foreigners will ever understand

Well known that Kenya is still a UN colony, Hence can not move away of it.

Edgar is very right... this doesnt do Kenya any better... European get double or tripple gains than what Kenya will be gaining... its hard to export finished ohh product to European market because of standards and policies put in place.. so as Edgar says we can only export raw materials as we have been doing... at the expense of our local industries...which have been crippled for years( why dont we impose policies and standards for our markets??!!!the same others are doing to protect themselves??! Kenya when will we learn?!!
