I've played 15 tournaments in the span of 1 Month (December). The very first tournament, I actually won it, I want to say it was more luck, but I was playing aggressive and cards were just working for me. Very next day, I went on another run, but played TOO aggressively and ran into a monster. --- So I see what you are saying about playing more aggressive and not waiting for AA KK etc. But In my 15th Tournament, My style of play has changed from that Aggressive loose player to Semi Conservative player. I like to wait for premium hands in early positions, and my range will widen when i'm on the button or hi jack. -- As some of the comments say, now a days, people chase down to the river catching cards like nothing. So waiting for premium hands and having basically the nuts before show down helps against these loose players. I agree with alot of the video. The bubble portion was great, I will note to attack medium stacks.

Final Table, tbh, I'm happy to make the money, Poker for me is just to get better at my game and prepare me for the next. When I'm on the final table, I play that loose aggressive style.

If anyone wondering, I have cashed out 3 times. Two First place and 3rd Place, Made the final table 4 times out of the 15. I feel like when I got 3rd place, was the best I've played. The times I won first, I feel luck was on my side.

Totally agree with playing a bigger range early stages. It’s helped me win tournaments fs

Juat won my tourny yesterday but chopped and was pressured into the chop at that. $125 entry $25 bounty 100% payout at my local VFW and it was invite only and im am outsider and these old folks were serious about chopping. Its all good tho, I walked with $975 in 4.5hrs. 1st was $1550 if i didnt chop. I turned down the 1st 2 offers since I was clearly the chip leader by almost double the next stack. I wanted to be able to keep coming back to the easiest tourney I ever played in.

I'm a nit in tourneys and I do very well in most tournaments I play in. When I play loose aggressive I get my ass kicked and lose every time in tourneys. My tourney rules. 1. No bluffing with nothing which I learned from you. 2. No all in before the flop. 3. No calling big raises pre flop. 4. Bet with the nuts only. 5. Fold away allot. 6. Don't get mad when you fold a winning hand if the cards were shit. Just carry on with a level head every beat. Your gonna lose and your gonna win some. Sit out for a bit if you get mad or frustrated or upset. Destress then get back in the game. Poker is definitely mental warfare but also luck and skills.

Great advice Nathan. You always say something that I need to hear and that I need to make changes to my strategy.😊

Excellent tips here. I agree deals are not generally in your favor, but there are times in my opinion when they make sense. Usually in the smaller Live buy in tournaments that have a turbo structure. You're down to 5 people in a $50 tournament. No one has more the 10BB and the small stack is 3BB (Say blinds just went to 8k-16k with 16k BB ante). You really aren't playing anymore, it becomes more like Bingo.

Of course these are likely Recreational Tournaments anyway. Usually take 3-4 hours and are a way to spend a morning or evening at your local card going to make a living, but not bad for some practice playing with or against 20-40BB stacks for when you are in those bigger tournaments.

Keep up the good work Nathan

Great tips, putting all of your advice into practice, and made me finish 5th in a local tournament yesterday! OK, not first place yet, but I'm already real happy with the result, especially as there was a special prize for the first female (a plane ticket) :). Thanks so much! PS. Recently enrolled into your Elite Poker University, and can only recommend!

Do a video on rebuy tournaments, i pretty much dominate freeze out tournaments but at these rebuy tournaments everyone is playing loose and aggressive just so they can buy back in multiple times which is great for the prize pool and i have came pretty close to the final table at these tournies and even one hand away from the final table but always getting eliminated late usually in coin flip situations where someone is chasing a flush or straight and hit it or i have AK and draw dead. I have tried multiple strategies to get to the next level in these tournaments but i keep falling just short normally due to a coin flip, i have already exploited the rebuyers but now just need to get that next level where I'm cashing out

Nathan, U hit one of my plays that was wrong. Now I see the sense of not targeting short stacks on the bubble. Thank you.

I think it all depends on the table of players and how they are playing. Sometimes you know the players you can be aggressive with, sometimes not. This ideology can put you in bad position really quick also. It all depends, there is no one proven way to win tournaments.

The question is how to you play loose aggressive VS people with JJ or better? Obviously you can't be too agressive pre because they will often be hapt to get it all in and you don't want to get it all in with 99 or 8Ts, so are you apply max pressure turn and hoping their pair can't handle the pressure when you could have flush/straight/full house/trips/set? And so you just rely on them not having good hands?

I listened to this video driving to the casino. I just won a green$25 chip bounty $125 buy in tournament. I took your advice of being more aggressive and it worked! Thanks a lot. To be technical, we chopped the winnings at the final table 4 ways. I know you’re against doing that. I would estimate my stack being about 2nd place but it was late as heck and I was getting tired. Thanks again!
