Hey guys, I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. As mentioned, I could not touch on every point so I would love to hear your perspective as always. Thanks again for your continued support; it means the world.

That Longines is very nice. I used to snob quartz, but I like my solar Citizen promaster BN0150 and also I like the Momentum Flatline 42, very slim, a cross between a flieger and a field watch (and 100m WR). Really legible, yet very nice dial and design. But I'd love a Sinn 556, but those used seem to not go much less as new. For travel I think quartz (especially solar) may be dependable, always ready and set even if not worn for a day. Yet the swiping second hand and mechanical movement have the charm and the history. But there are nice quartz pieces too. At the end of the day a watch is nice, but you have to get really close to see what someone is actually wearing. An Orient with a nice strap may look as stylish as a historic Swiss piece from a few feet away.

Good points, Teddy! Looking at my own wants/needs/style I have little to no use for a dress watch. I'm a chef and an avid camper/backpacker/hiker so I put a high premium on 1) water resistance, 2) shock resistance/durability and 3) lume/low-light readability. A watch that can't go into the sink while I'm washing dishes, take some water when I'm working up a recipe, tolerate a dip into a stream or lake or survive a shower aren't going to do me much good.

Great points! One more thing to consider is what the watch is intended for? Eg. An everyday watch? A watch for sports, casual or maybe travel? Formal event? A watch for work and play? This will determine the kind of watch to check out. Another is cost of course.

Have you done a video on how to Service your watch? I have not seen many videos on servicing: do you find a local watch person, or send it to manufactor. I have no idea how to, or when to service a watch.

Great point, Teddy, as to fit on wrist (lug width). At times a watch is just uncomfortable on the wrist for reasons not that evident.

Yes good point the lug length is very important as my Hamilton jazz master chronograph has a 42mm case with 51mm lug length. My glycine chronograph has a 42mm case with a much longer lug length of 55mm.

I have multiple watches. My most expensive one gets worn more than the less expensive ones. Since my typical apparel is traditional business casual(dress trousers, dress shirt, tie, sport coat or blazer)- my dressy casual Frederique Constant Classics Index ref: FC-303BN5B6B works well. Since this looks dated with a suit, I have a Tissot Visodate with a silver face and a Hamilton Jazzmaster Day-Date for that purpose. The Tissot and Hamilton also work with a blazer and tie.

Now I am looking for a watch that I can pair with my gold and onyx cufflinks and another pair of gold cufflinks. Since they only get worn with one suit, I'm not willing to spend craploads of money on a pair. I'm looking at Seiko's homage to the Cartier Tank. There are other watches that will work better, but they cost at least triple the price.

Hi Teddy, I always love watch videos, so keep 'em coming! The one point I had never really thought about is not just looking at the case size but also looking at the lug-to-lug measurement to determine if a watch will fit properly on your wrist. Keep it up!

the thing about movements like ETA to me is, 50-100 years down the road, when your grandson wants to service the watch, it's much more likely that he can find ETA parts...unless it's a popular and longstanding company - companies can go out of business, or just stop production of parts and the market can dry up, what then?

Hate to admit it, but cost is a big driver for me. I really want a Tudor, but I think of all the watched I could buy or just have the one. Also, it would take over a year of saving verses enjoying a new (or used) watch sooner. I could have a new Aplina a year for three years or one Tudor at the end of three years. No easy answer I guess, but that is what I spend most of my time thinking about when it comes to watch choose.

Good video Yetti, but at the end of the day price is key. Make a video about watch lifestyles and color dials combination. What matches and what doesn’t.
