It pains me to say it, but I just can’t see Lotus lasting the next five years under Geely ownership. The broader business plan isn’t working, they’re bleeding personnel, and there are too many pissed off customers who have vowed they’ll never buy another car from Lotus again based on the way they’ve been treated. I can’t see Hethel remaining open in the long term either, particularly since the Type 135 has now been delayed indefinitely and Alpine have pulled the plug on their partnership. The whole thing is a total mess

I've had my Emira for 18 months. Had none of these issues. Car is awesome.

I was considering this Lotus as my next sports car. I have asked them to contact me when they have one come in to their show room, but I have not been contacted, and that was over a year ago. After your video, I can't believe Lotus does not take ownership of their obligations as car company that has a warranty in place. They just lost a customer. I will look at other options. Thank you for the informative video.

I had the park brake and sos issue. Both sorted back in January by dealer - an update I believe. All good since then. Just pure driving pleasure!

I dodged a bullet when I cancelled my Emira order. This was when Lotus increased the price after promising not to. Life's too short for this kind of hassle.

I almost bought one. Had a drive on track at Hethel and test drive with a dealer in Colchester. Both cars were poorly finished and the super charged engine was rough and the gears clunky. A factory tour finally persuaded me to cancel my order. Only one robot on the production line and the rest of the car put together by a recently recruited workforce. No surprise that the Emira has so many issues. Bought a 4.0 718 GTS 18 months ago which has been a dream to drive and without any issues

So glad I cancelled my reservation. Give me a toyota or porsche... It's a shame because the lotus is the prettiest vehicle...

Enjoyed that Rich, the car is looking superb in the sunlight. I'm finding a similar problem but with a twist with Alpine. Alpine UK is great but the limited dealer network is a real 'hit and miss' and destroys the ownership experience to the extent that many will return to the obvious choice of Porsche I suspect. These lower volume manufacturers really need to look at the totality of the ownership touch points and not just point of sale. Cheers, Kevin.

I’ve had a lot of similar issues, also working with lotus Bristol and the central lotus customer care.

The hill hold issue is a firmware update as mine is sorted now. Although it only applies the hill hold now when you’re in gear and doesn’t work in neutral. A “feature” apparently.

Also had the paint bubble and a list as long as my arm of other bits.

Love the car, use it as a daily driver, but I have lost somewhere in the region of 25% of the whole ownership so far with it in the garage for repairs.

EPB on Jaguars were a problem a couple of decades ago too.

The bubbling is well known on Elise, Exige and evora (and I’ve had them myself). It’s linked to the drying process during spraying. It’s a tricky material to spray, poor that the factory haven’t managed it. I did a factory visit during the Emira build and the spray process is different to the previous cars (spraying panels separately rather than the whole car together)- I wouldn’t be surprised if the issues have crept back in having previously been solved.

It's unusual for hill hold assist to use the electronic parking brake. Would be slow to operate compared to the usual system.

sos and parking brake are 100% software issues, they were both sorted on mine

I had the same paint blisters with a Lotus years ago. 2 attempts to sort it by the dealer failed so Lotus took it back to Hethel. They took 9 months to sort it out! Great start to new car ownership, NOT!
