Somewhere in the future: Trying the impossible whiskey.

Impossible bacon would be the next logical thing for them to make

But for Muslims, isn't all pork 'impossible pork'?

My thing is that it would’ve been good to have someone who eats pork to help with taste comparisons

As a muslim, I don't think it's a big deal. It's a plant based meat, so the name could be anything, it's still okay. But I think it's more important to mention that it's vegan.

I do not understand the objection for consuming a plant product that has "pork" in the name. This seems like a linguistic discussion. I have been vegan for 20 years and I don't dig the Impossible stuff as much as others, but I am super excited on the progress and drive they have. They are not trying to convicne me, and that is rad! Lab-grown meat? different discussion!

Ross:Uh, huh ! The old days were better.

Really well made video CNET. The presentation, the presenter and the overall flow of the video were excellent.

The imam says "almost exactly the same thing" which seems inaccurate since this is a mix of plant ingredients, not anything to do with a pig or other animal.

Thank you for doing this. Didn’t expect CNET to cover this topic. Well done!

As a nonreligious person I found this fascinating. Great piece.

I think there's something to be said about the context of the prohibition of eating pork.

It could have something to do with the concept that in ancient times, pigs used to literally eat human waste. Pigs today eat soy, oats, etc, so there's a huge contextual reasoning there.

That being said, I don't eat meat or animal products anymore. Eating meat has always been unsettling to me, but it took me a long time to commit to that change. I likely would have sooner had the options existed then.

I am from one of those Christian sects (SDAs) that avoid pork traditionally. I have grown up on MorningStar veggie Bacon Strips, Worthington Foods Stripples, and a few different veggie-sausage patties/links (had some yesterday). I’d totally eat veggie-pork. I think anyone from my faith group would as well.

Thank you CNET for covering this. Being a muslim i am also intrigued by the possibility of trying plant based pork. I kind of understand why Abrar was feeling this way. I will not go out of my way to try it but if offered as an opportunity i will definitely taste it.
