Sony A5000 vs. Sony A6400: Old vs. New

My Sony A5000 has been with me for 4 years now. In 2019 I made the jump to the A6400 because I wanted that sharp 4K video.
During the last few months I wondered if the old A5000 can still hold its own, or if the A6400's $900 price tag is well worth the money.
The A6400 is definitely the best Youtube 4K camera available on the market in my opinion, and it makes the A5000 prehistoric.
But still, I really liked the compact size of the A5000, and think that Sony should make the A5200 with 4K video, microphone input, and sell it for $500.
That would be the uncontested choice of reason for anyone looking to upgrade from their smartphone. Until that time, the A6400 remains to be the voice of reason.

Thank you for the the review. I want a cheap one for livestream. 6400 vs the 5000 does the image quality difference show up if you are streaming to fb and yt.

I own a6300 and bought a5100 recently. Same story here. Really love smaller size and in my case even flip up screen.

I bought a Sony a5000 4 times in 2021 to resell it with a small profit (150$ by far).. My plan is to collect profits until the budget is sufficient to upgrade to Sony a6400 or Sony Zv1.

got mine a5000 body, a kit lens, a sony 1.8 35mm SEL at almost new condition for 375 USD of a second hand seller.
I originally thought of trading in the a5000 for 110$, im like ehh, imma just gonna keep the body as back up and have a a6400 with me as main.
