In this video I share with you how I planted my old containers/flower pots with annual flower seeds (Zinnia, Marigold, Petunia). A good way to use up seeds and an inexpensive way to get a lot of color (in about 35-45 days) without spending a lot of money having to buy transplants from the store.

I can't wait until my last frost date to plant my seeds! Your flowers are gorgeous. It's good to know that I don't need a huge container to plant these. Great, informative video.

I started my zinnias May 6th, I used the same brand you have! They have just now started sprouting! I live in Kentucky too!!!

Saying that you put them out in the full sun helped me. I was looking for that info.

Thanks! I’m in zone 7 in TN, so we’re neighbors! I’ve got packets of seeds calling my name, so your video gave me the encouragement I need to get them going. I’m bad about buying seed packets, then getting scared off. Crazy! Just subscribed.

Can’t wait to see what those will look like! What do you plan to do with the petunia seedlings?

I bought the same brand of zinnia seeds and another brand of peppermint stick variety zinnia seeds. They didn't do too well. Of the standard Zinnias, I had 5 peat pots and 6 peat pellets. Out of the 11, 1 sprouted 2 plants. So far the peppermint stick variety planted in 6 peat pellets havent sprouted anything. I'm hoping to collect seeds from the 2 plants that grew, maybe I'll have better luck next year.

Can you just add more drainage holes with a drill or what do you recommend? Thanks

So I planted the seeds really close to each other and they grew! But is it such a bad thing there soo so close?

Thanks for the video!! I have a really dumb question: if I plant similar flower seeds that you did in a container and I cut some flowers to put them in a vase, will the flowers keep growing after cut or once they are cut there is no more flower growth after that? Thanks!

I’m confused. I started marigolds in seed starting mix. Did I need to do that? Do I need to transfer them to potting mix? What’s the difference? Thanks!
