Suuuper excited to see the dyno working. I'm not sure if it's crazy expensive or something, but I would think there is an easy way to get much newer software on like any modern laptop with some basic adapters that could still work with that dyno. As for why it's not reading right now, I'd unplug, clean, and replug every connection and then make sure there aren't any missing devices in device manager and that the serial ports are assigned correctly since I'm assuming it's old enough to use pretty manually set comm protocols. Try turning everything on first and the computer last and then try the opposite. Beyond that not really sure, could be a connection you're missing somewhere or something plugged into the wrong port. I would def reach out to Mustang Dynos. I think you can buy their newer software to run on the older legacy models. That way you can run a newer computer.

dude I freaking hate 4 posts, but they are so freaking useful. they take so much more weight for price, and the scissor jack pretty much makes it possible to do whatever you need to do. Worked on HUMVEEs for a while, that bendpak lift with a scissor jack, LIFESAVER, minus the locks, they do get stuck sometimes, and it wont lower equally, some posts get stuck, especially after a little rainy season and no maintenance.

Probably something to do with those old school serial legacy Expansion cards that interface the Dyno sensors to the Mustang software through Windows 98 using either the PCI buss or an even older ISA buss. Check to see if any yellow flags show up under Win 98 Device manager for the expansion cards in either of the PCI or ISA buss slot dropdowns. It could be missing drivers for those cards, or it also could be a bad rpm sensor, if your buddy has a scope you should be able to see some sort of wave form coming off it when turning it at some speed as a test.
