Canon EOS 1DX Preview

Canon just announced the 1D X FULL frame 18 Megapixel, Hi-ISO shooting, 12 FPS Snapping, 1080 24FPS and 720 60FPS BEAST.

This camera has so many new or reworked features from the image sensor itself to new buttons and an fully reworked autofocus system.

You will see in the video below my thoughts on this camera as well as what the new key features are. I hope to get my hands on one of these at PPE11 next week so I can try out some of the new features for myself.

The one downside to this camera that I see is the current price point of $6,800 that is just way up there compared to where the Mark III was but not as much as the 1Ds series.

@YoussefAbdelmohsen check out what they say about it. From what I gather the pixels are larger meaning they will gather more light.

@MrPlaystationboy No no, I dont think people will be jumping ship with this one, if nikon flops their next than maybe you will see that just like when the d3 came out.

@J6Snipe I would be happy with 12, its great that canon pulled back in the last few years to get better high ISO with less pixels.

wait bigger pixels or bigger photodiodes? aren't pixels the same size all around? so they'd be better quality pixels?

I believe Canon will restrict the 12fps RAW to 3sec continuous bursts. Meaning you can shoot 20-30 frames in 3 sec and then have to wait for the buffer to write to CF card before you can start shooting at 12fps again. Not like you can shoot 5sec, or 10sec of 12fps
