Are we just gonna ignore that S1H footage? Damn it's nice!

Crying Jordan on a sled please. Legitimate test of the deep buffer.

Photographers are going to have a ball at the Olympics with the Canon 1DX Mark III, Sony A9II and Nikon D6.

Jordan was purposely shooting the s1h in challenging lighting conditions and pulled it off every time I see.

Interesting BB focus button design. It seems like it could easily be bumped though.

This is great for the Canon people no doubt, but all I see is a video ad for the Panasonic S1H.
Love the video quality Jordan!

This is like a home maker who drives the kids in a mini van to soccer games doing reviews on a Ferrari 488 Pista or Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Cool camera. I'm glad it's coming and I'm excited to see how this leads for the rest of Canon's lineup.

Heck yeah! In 10 years I hope it'll be $600 like my Mark IV. Boy, I wish...

Amazing. Peter McKinnon couldn't even take it outside Canon HQ Canada and yours gets shipped?

Thanks for the preview of 1dxIII. After seeing the video, I am tilted more towards Panasonic S1H.

Wait a minute - let me get this straight. Every time you scroll your thumb over the AF-ON button it changes the point of focus? On the 5D3, it only changes position if you hit the M-Fn button first. You're saying that with the 1DX3, you do not unlock the AF position first to then move the point of focus with the new toggle AF? That it is always unlocked?

is it mirrorless. sucks when i have to review photos in bright sunlight and cannot see the screen. so it's mirrorless..looks at pics via EVF..right.

Without having picked up a 1DX iii I'm sure you can disable moving the af point with the AF-on button and asign the function to a dofferent button, which is what I'd do. I'm used to moving the points with the joystick.

The last couple of years I've always said that mirrorless will be the way to go - you don't have to be a prophet to see that - but it will take some time until they are able to replace the DSLR. I don't think that anymore. I think the 1DX3 could have been a mirrorless camera if only canon would have enough native glass yet. I also think it could be the last but one pro DSLR from Canon. The last beeing the 5D5.

I myself have currently both systems at hand cuz I haven't sold any DSLR gear when giving the EOS R a try, but despite all the flaws of the EOS R I hardly find myself picking up one of my DSLRs. Even for action. The framerate might be crap, but the tracking, the eye AF and the keeper rate is awesome.

Thanks for your review. Why this 20mp sensor is producing better image quality than 5div 30p? Is really the quality upon sensor manufacturing and not quantity of mp?

Hi Chris, from what others have said (using the OVF focusing) - if you place an AF point on your subject to begin with, it locks on and won't let go, wherever that subject moves (as long as the subject remains within the AF points, obviously).

I'm wondering if you're not used DSLR focusing systems any more, because in honesty, I can get better focusing results from an 80D than you showed with the 1DXiii and they're world's apart in focusing abilities. I shoot tons of bursts of joggers and cyclists and I don't get out of focus shots and sometimes they even momentarily disappear behind an object, but 8 have the camera set up to pause for a moment if the subject is lost. I bet you'll get great results once you have more time with the camera. Gordon Laing had no issues with the AF keeping up with formula 1 cars. The normal DSLR AF was far better at tracking fast moving cars than the DPAF.

Whenever i look at your videos it’s almost like when I open my 15 yr old Macallan smooth. Great video and commentary as always.

I’m late to the party, but after watching this, I’m trying to decide between 1DX Mk3 and R5. I most shoot photos and not much video. I usually shoot events, so very dark places and people moving fast. With my 6Dii, 5 out of 10 shots are blurred & can’t use them. If money is not an issue, which one do u think is better?
