Given that for many pro sport & wildlife photographers the body is the "cheap end" of the gear a complete system change isn't a real option. Sony has amazing tech in their lineup but if you are committed to Canon EF with +$35k in lenses you expect a significant and competitive body update. This the specs of the Mark III promise.
It's probably not futureproof but for a few 100k pro(!) Sports & Wildlife Journalists it's a necessary extension of an outgoing system (DSLR) before the new (Mirrorless) offers a fully compatible and complete lineup.

Specs seem better, also curious to know if they will take the Resolution to 23 or 24mp and put 180 or 240 fps in FHD.

I believe the large rugged body that balances well with big telephoto lenses will be welcomed by the traditional Canon sports shooters😊. This is what they know and are accustomed to. So far Sony doesn't offer anything with remotely similar ergonomics. When Sony begins to make larger cameras which focus more on ergonomics and usability, instead of miniaturization, I believe more sport photographers (and others) will begin to take them seriously.

The AF-ON button will double as AF selection joystick. Judging by the looks of it, it appears to be R-style touch sensor implementation. Slide the finger over it in any direction to select AF area, press it to perform AF. There might be a "safety lock" feature similar R's touchbar, of course. You can probably disable it completely if you don't like it.

Internal raw video! Not in the market for this thing, but that's exciting. Hope they've seen the light and will let you dump to an ssd instead of cfast/cfexpress.

Gordon Liang sir do you think canon can create a hybrid camera? have an OVF and EVF together well they have an attachable EVF for m6!

Interesting news, I am glad they haven’t given up on DSLRs, but I wonder, how difficult is it to project the live view to the eye-level viewfinder? Canon has a very powerful live view from what I understand, if when the mirror is up the live view is displayed in the viewfinder you would have both a DSLR and a mirrorless in one

I'd like to see a cross between the mkiii and the eos r - the body of the mkiii the sensor of the r, dual cfast cards, 4k 60, 1080p 120fps possibly IBIS but not a deal breaker.
