Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, “Masters of the Air” follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of “Masters of the Air.” Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.

The series features a stellar cast led by Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle and Nate Mann, who are joined by Raff Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook and Ncuti Gatwa.

Hailing from Apple Studios, "Masters of the Air" is executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Television, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone. Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey co-executive produce alongside Playtone’s Steven Shareshian. In addition to writing, Orloff co-executive produces. Graham Yost also serves as co-executive producer. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Dee Rees and Tim Van Patten serve as directors.

I was an extra on Masters for three months. The amount of resources, attention to detail authenticity and passion that has gone into it is second to none. Going to be epic!

The fact my grandfather flew a B-17 in late 44-45 is special to me. While they didnt deal with as many fighters as others did in 43 they still dealt with flak. He survived.

I did a Masters of the Air Tour with Donald Miller in Sept of 22. He told us that Hanks and Spielberg were sticklers for accuracy and that everything in the production actually happened.

My dad was a pilot in the 398th Heavy Bomber Group 44 & 45. Was a pilot and flew 27 missions - all before his 21st birthday. I finally got to fly in a B17 in 2008. The nickname they gave these planes during the war was “the flying coffin”.

Now if only someone in Hollywood will make a movie based upon The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors. The battle of Samar Island! Long overdue!

I can’t help but hear Chris Evans whenever Callum Turner speaks in an American accent.

We didn't have anyone in the family in the Air Corp in WWII. But we did have one in the Navy and one in the Marines, and we also had family members serve in WWI, Korea, Vietnam, & The Cold War. While all this service is important to me I most cherish getting to hear our family members WWII stories first hand. FLY NAVY!!!

Really excited for this! Being on a bomber, especially as the "skipper" was a very mentally taxing job, so it will be interesting to see how that is portrayed. Whereas other movies like Memphis Belle or the opening scene to Unbroken only got an opportunity to show single missions because that is what their stories allowed for, this will hopefully show you the affect it had over time.
