When I changed my IP address to static firewall freaked out and went on a restart loop. Thanks for the firewall safe mode trick I was able to reconfigure it.

Make sure to disable Allow SIP Guest. It's a security risk to leave it on. What I've never understood is why the devs of FreePBX have left that enabled by default when it's a known risk and they champion VoIP security.

One consideration for DNS server selection: If you have a dynamic IP and you are using DynDNS and you put a hostname in the "External IP" field, you need to use DNS servers that will return the public IP of the dyndns hostname, not the private IP.

Great video, also very useful your "pro-tip" about how to disable the firewall through rebooting the server twice. Thanks a lot

I've been inspired by you tutorials on free PBX, so I've setup one v17 from scratch on my own. It works perfectly on the LAN and now i want to go public. Here it goes bit complicated. PBX is running on a VM on my LAN and I've created unrestricted NAT rule from the WAN to the PBX LAN address. Let's encrypt cert is also generated for the WAN address. I'm not sure how to setup the PBX Firewall to be secure, but allow external phones coming from the WAN to be able to register without issue. I'll be grateful if you can provide some tips.

Hi. Thank you for great tutorial. But in here it does not show external address. PABX installed in local environment. Please help.

@crosstalk Solution I have followed up all the settings. Extensions were added successfully and registered. Call are coming but can't hear any audio. Please not internal calls only. no calls from outside.

Are module purchases per install or per Sangoma Portal profile? I would like to setup a test server and then use the modules I purchase in production. Will I need to buy these twice?

Could I put my eth0 interface into the "reject" zone, add my known authorized IP addresses (physical locations of my phones) to the "local" zone, and effectively block access from anyone outside of my IPs? Or would that locked me and my users out of the system completely? I don't have any remote users. Thanks for any advice!

FreePBX does not like MS Edge at all. Had to use Chrome to get past Firewall configuration.

I have a Cisco 7961-G phone. I started the factory reset and right now it's in the "upgrading" loop and constantly rebooting. I setup tftpd64 on my laptop for the firmware update. I am going to setup my laptop as the DHCP the phone will search for during the reset. I currently do not have an Ethernet port on my laptop and cannot find my dongle. I do not have a separate network. Being that the phone is going through it's DHCP request to get the files it needs for the upgrade during reset is there a way to create a pointer record specifically for the phone? Also, I am hosting the FreePBX on Oracle Virtual Box. I bridged the network adapter. I updated all the modules on FreePBX. I am also going to use Twilio for the elastic SIP trunk. I got a phone number to use for the first run. I was able to place a call from Twilio to a trusted phone number. Any thoughts on finishing the upgrade would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the updated videos. In your old videos you used Sangoma phones. Do you ever set up Avaya phones? I set up a FreePBX in my house with Avaya 96xx phones and would like your opinions on that.

At 18:25 you say an on premises PBX needs an FQDN. How do I get this? Can I just put in my PBX on premises IP address?

After using these steps to set up a new PBX i am having an issue with Fail2Ban stops running. This happens after the update steps. Once i reload and go back to dashboard the red flame is next to it and i am unable to restart it in the GUI and not on through ssh. This install is barebones on a Dell 210 ii. Had no problems with 14 on here upgraded and now this happens. What should i be looking at?
