Dix-Hallpike Maneuver for Vertigo

preview_player
Показать описание
This is an example of the Dix-Hallpike maneuver.
To begin, we place our hands on the patient's head and rotate their head 45 degrees to one side. Then, we rapidly have the patient lay down and extend their head off the edge of their bed so that their head is hanging approximately 30 to 60 degrees in extension. We will hold the patient's head in this position and observe their eyes for the presence of nystagmus. This will generally be a rotary and vertical nystagmus, if positive. We can then return the patient to the upright and seated position and repeat the procedure on the contralateral side.

Thank you so much for the super quick video!! I like to review physical exams right before going into pt rooms and most other videos are like 5+ minutes long

I assumed that my right ear was the one that was affected, so I turned my head, right bent back and then turned my head left doing the Epley maneuver, and it's only when I turn my head to the left that I feel dizzy when I get up with my head turned to the left. I feel dizzy for a few seconds when I sit up doesn't that mean I have the problem on the left and I have been doing the Epley maneuver wrong meaning I start on the right with my head turned to the right when I should be starting with my head to the left. I'm angry that my chiropractor didn't test me first before recommending this.
