Dr. Danielle Tolman, PT uses this short video to walk you through how to safely and accurately perform a Left Epley Maneuver at home to resolve positional dizziness related to Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) affecting the left ear.

This course covers a wider variety of topics including:
- A more in depth look into inner ear anatomy, and why BPPV occurs
- How to test for the most common types of BPPV in different canals
- How to determine the ear that is involved if you have active BPPV
- How to treat BPPV using various maneuvers appropriate for the ear and the canal involved
- Tips and tricks to improve your chances of success at home, as well as how to face challenges including nausea/vomiting.

NOTE: It is recommended that if you have vertigo, that you first see a healthcare professional or vestibular specialist to determine the right course of treatment for you. The Epley maneuver is primarily used to treat a specific form of positional vertigo. There are many other causes of vertigo, as well as many different types of treatment. Please see our disclaimer at the end of the video.

Thank you Danielle! My wife has dealt with this issue for years and we have been to numerous specialists. Your video helped us bring a long episode to an expedited end. For those reading this in the midst of a difficult time - know that in our case, it took several days of repeatedly completing the exercise shown here. For my wife, she would complete a single session (exactly as shown in this video), then sit down with her head straight for two hours, then repeat another single session. Over a few days the symptoms consistently improved with every session and eventually went away 100%. Based on what we've read (and experienced), for some a single session will do it - for others it can take longer. Also, making sure you follow the instructions exactly as shown in the video helps - as you can unintentionally extend the episode by not completing the exercise as instructed. Lastly, I wish anyone reading this in the midst of an episode - quick relief! Tthank you once again Danielle for taking the time to share this outstanding video with all of us.

Finally someone who chooses to show how it should be done and look when your left ear is the problem! It should be easy to do if shown how to do the right, but it's much better to actually see how to do it with a visual and verbal explanation for the left. Thank You!

Unbelievable! I did it first for the left side because that’s where I thought the problem was. Nothing changed. Then I did it for the right side, and it worked 100%. You have no idea how grateful I am 🙏

Adding this video to my saved library- it took me ages to find it again. I first used it a year ago and it was awesome. My vertigo is back this week, and I’m doing this to put a stop to it. Years of problems that the epley maneuver fixes quickly- have to do it every year or so… just long enough to forget the steps and your clear instructions are so helpful! Thank you!

All I have to say is thank you so much I woke up so dizzy I almost threw up. And then it persisted the rest of the day. I did this maneuver and I actually felt better. You're amazing.

This was how my physical therapist did it! I needed a refresher in order to realign the crystals yet again and your video was the best representation I saw. Thank you so very much ❤❤❤

I deal with this periodically and had to revisit YouTube for a refresher on how to do this maneuver. It does work! This is the second time it’s helped me.

Thank you for the long and short versions of this maneuver! This helped my husband after an ER visit that left his dizziness, spinning sensation unresolved. They never attempted this simple test after negative CT and stroke screening among other things. He performed this maneuver three times and feels so much relief!

Had problems with my head spinning when I lay down and nearly fell out of the bed turning on my side, because I was so dizzy. Did this once and it worked straight away - gobsmacked! Thank you so much!

Thank you Danielle! I have experienced occasional dizziness for a few years. I was treated with the Epley once at a physicians office. Since then, I've used your methods with great results.

❤ I am amazed at how easy this was to follow. I decided to try this after being unable to find an ENT or any medical professional until 3 weeks out.
It only took me 3 x of doing the maneuver to fix my left ear vertigo.
It was clear the first time I did it, which ear was the problem. Thank you for being so helpful!!!

Woke up one morning with my head spinning. Absolutely horrible experience. Couldnt walk without getting dizzy, couldnt turn my head to the left without feeling like the whole world was turning upside down. Urgent care couldnt help me. This was the only thing that improved my condition. Mind you, doing the maneuver is beyond horrible. I couldnt complete it the first time because it made me throw up from the spinning sensation caused by turning my head. Have a bowl ready just in case. Was able to complete the maneuver after the second attempt. Breathing through the spinning sensation helped. Then I slept sitting up in bed propped by pillows with my head straight. The next day I was much better. Still dizzy if I move too quickly but definitely much improved from the day prior.
