I watched Tusk with no any context, that movie was so insane, wild, terrifying, and utterly disturbing. The ending was so sad though.

I will be the paragraph(s?) girl, but I can only fit two synopsis at a time, so check the replies under this for the other two. I’m not covering Tusk because I’ve heard enough about it and it’s freaked me out.

1. Honeymoon. Newlyweds Bea and Paul go on a honeymoon at Bea’s family cabin (located in Canadian forest). In a restaurant nearby they meet Will, Bea’s childhood friend and his wife Annie. Annie says something disturbing about them needing to get away. That night, Bea goes missing, Paul finds her wandering the woods naked and out of it. After taking her back to the cabin, Bea tells him it was sleepwalking, which makes no sense to Paul because she doesn’t do that. Over days, Bea starts forgetting how to do basic tasks, even struggling to remember common words. Paul is unsure of what to do. One night, Paul wakes up to blinding light from his window, and on going back to where he found Bea the first time she vanished, he finds her again covered in goo. Paul thinks Will is responsible. He goes to the restaurant to find Annie who is behaving similarly to Bea. Annie tells him Will is hiding and urges him to ‘stay away’ before leaving. Paul finds Will’s blood soaked hat floating in the water nearby. Inside Will and Annie’s home, Paul finds pages of notes about Annie and security footage. At home, Paul finds Bea taking similar notes and claims she’s someone else. She locks herself in the bathroom, Paul breaks in, finding her stabbing herself repeatedly ‘down there’. Paul ties her to a bed to interrogate her, she remembers little to nothing about their relationship, and somehow ends up sticking Paul’s hand ‘down there’ where he pulls out a weird worm looking creature. Bra claims the night she disappeared she followed the lights, finds a bunch of people she can’t really see, claims they impregnated her with the worm. She claims the figures are coming to take her. Paul tried to drive them both away but Bea sees the lights again, knocks him out, takes him to the lake, tied him to an anchor and throws him overboard telling him she is hiding him from ‘them’ underwater. Ending shows Bea’s face peeling off and after watching her wedding video meets an also decaying Annie, and they walk together into the lights.

2. The killing of the sacred deer. Cardiologist Steven meets a 16y male named Martin several years after Martin’s father (who died under Steven’s knife) several years before. Steven, for whatever reason, invited Martin to his home to meet his family. Day after, Martin invites Steven to his home, and after Martin goes to bed, Martin’s mother flirts with Stephen. Martin starts trying to get Stephen’s attention, first saying he has chest pain and then that his mother finds him attractive and so on, but Steven tried to ignore him. He later learns Martin had given daughter a ride home, which freaks him out. Day after, Bob, Steven’s son, can’t feel his legs. Steven and his wife rush him to the hospital, Martin tells them to balance things for killing his father, Steven has to kill one of his own or they’d all die. Steven’s daughter also ends up hospitalized. Truth comes out Steven drank before Martin’s father’s operation which killed him. Steven’s wife gets angry at Martin for making the kids suffer for their father’s sin. Martin simply replies that it is justice for having killed his father. Steven kidnaps Martin, tried torturing him to intimidate him, fails. Children try to win Steven’s favor so they won’t die, Steven can’t decide who to kill. Wife decides she has to save her own life and tells Steven to kill one of the kids instead of her because she can always give him another child. Bob begins bleeding from the eyes, a symptom which heralded his death in a few hours. Steven basically plays Russian roulette to kill a family member, spinning in a circle before randomly shooting. Two shots miss, third kills Bob. Some time later the family runs into Martin at a diner and quickly leaves, afraid.

Killing of a Sacred Deer is one of my favorites. Right up there with Nocturnal Animals and A Cure for Wellness.

Saltburn isn’t that crazy. It’s a good intro to psychological thriller.

For those who are wondering what tusk is about, I’ll explain it. (This is from what I’ve heard from other friends) :

Basically, there is this guy, don’t remember his name but we will call him Scar. Scar was saved by a walrus in the past, but had to kill it or he wouldn’t survive or something. (This first bit i don’t really remember but everything else is definitely for sure) after that, scar felt very guilty, so he found a man and brought him to his house. Scar then told the man that he was going to fully change him. After that, scar gets a walruses skin and starts to sew it onto the man (let’s call him Jeff). While Jeff is being tortured with pain, it’s finally over, but he’s transformed into a walrus with no escape, he can’t take the skin off and he can’t walk, so he’s basically a walrus with human thoughts, (he also can’t speak). Jeff gets released and tries to explain what happened to him to his girlfriend, but surprisingly, she understood. But after that, his girlfriend broke up with him because well, he’s a walrus. And goes off with another man. A couple days go by, and his ex girlfriend decides to turn him in to a zoo to give him a “better life”. While being forced to eat raw fish and all that. And the last scene is his ex girlfriend with another man, crying while staring at him. Then walking away. (Again the first part may be a bit different for I don’t remember a lot of it)

I understand that the Killing of a Sacred deer is supposed to be artsy and high brow, but the writing was just strange to me, I’m sure there’s a meaning to all of the weird dialogue but it just lost me early in the film. Maybe I’ll give it a second try 😂
