Dr. Keith Jamal Robinson, Pulmonologist with Baptist Health South Florida, explains the stages of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) are mild, moderate, severe, and very severe, and they are based on how much airflow obstruction they can measure.

He also points out most patients go three years without a qualified diagnosis, and some patients have a different trajectory in their lung function loss.

When I was smoking (30 years exactly) my spo2 was always between 93 and 95 and hard to get it any higher without a lot of deep breaths. Well, I quit smoking three months ago, and walking 60 min every day, which I started doing six months before quitting, and now, as of late, my spo2 is always 95 or higher. Today when I got out of bed it was 97 and goes to 99 when I take a deep breath! Please quit smoking, everyone! I stopped smoking in the house and started smoking outside at the same time I started my walks. That gave me a great opportunity to relearn do everything I used to do while smoking without smoking and getting used to that. Basically reprogramming and destroying triggers and associations. And now that three months has passed without smoking, I take a step back and realize that quitting smoking saved my life and that smoking is nasty and did nothing for me except relieve the cravings that the last cigarettes caused, and then make me want another! Over and over again!!! Today, as a former smoker, the list of benefits it just too long to list here!
My oxygen levels is what really made my day today. You can quit too! IT IS WORTH IT!!!

Proper breathing is deep breathing from the diaphragm with a straight back. Shallow breathing isn’t very good for lungs. Nowadays people shallow breathe more often as they stoop over their devices and this, along with vaping and lack of fitness will cause severe COPD in a few decades.

That didn't answer any of my questions that I had in my mind that I thought this video was going to answer. This is the 4th video that has done that, which is telling me tha nobody really knows what exact stage a COPD person is on.
