Before I say this, I get that it's a skit and supposed to be funny, so if you are going to mad at me for bashing it just stop reading now.

My mom works at state farm. She is currently a manager and for quite some time she was an injury specialist. She has seen so many cases with such major results that she would NEVER opt for state minimums on auto insurance. To add, my brother works on the agent side of state farm, so he get to be the person telling people why their rates have raised. To simplify the honest answer he would like to say but can't for protocol reasons, there are more and more idiots on the road creating more accidents, mechanics and parts are becoming more expensive making every accident cost more, and over the last few years state farm has actually been losing money because apparently not a single person on the road knows how to drive. The are like 2 or 3 entire states (I don't remember which ones exactly) that state farm dropped adding new business to entirely because they are costing too much to hold onto.
This situation isn't about insurance screwing you over, it's about the fact they are reaching a point they can't afford to cover your ass if you are an inexperienced/accident prone driver, so until you are like 25, expect higher rates, if you have had an accident in the last 5-10 years, expect higher rates, if you live in a more accident prone state, expect higher rates. It's the only way they can afford you.
