Even if your PC has a lot of RAM, keep your Page File enabled, otherwise your Windows Operating System will freeze if more memory is needed.

The only time I've ever disabled my page file was when I had a hard drive that was failing back in the day so to minimise the impact on the disc.
I disabled it so windows wouldn't be utilizing it as much in performing tasks Requiring a lot of memory

When in doubt, just leave it alone

So, whenever the committed memory exceeds physical memory+page file, the system freezes. I wonder why it results in black display.

There is a lot of misinformation about the paging file on Windows.

I see it as highly beneficial for people with little physical memory who will load up a lot more apps and so for them it will be necessary if they hit the limit of physical ram.

For people who have a lot of RAM available like 32GB, I think it depends on whether you want to have some error logs available which may be available on disk if the computer crashes.

I don't see the point of having a paging file if you have 32GB ram uness your seem to be maxing that out as well. Also, Windows has made an option to disable paging. Why would they create such an option if it would start to cause problems (crashing).

I have disabled it and I have 32GB. Don't see why I should be suffocating the M.2 SSD.

Disable page file if u have 16GB ram or more and u are using Hard disk only.It will reduce hard disk load and trust me, u can never max out 16gb ram unless u are playing 1440p ultra or above on games, bcs Gpu itself has its own

In the past in 32-bit OS I used ramdisk for page file to utilize 384-768MB of otherwise inaccessible memory and never had any issues. As for disabling page file I did it also in 64-bit OSes but didn't encounter major issues other than cases when I really ran out of memory and applications which requested memory crashed. It is probably better to keep page file enabled. BTW. Disabling page file also turns off memory compression and generally increases minimum memory usage by few hundreds of MB.

Why i keep getting the notification "Windows is running out of memory" when i enable paging file should i disable it??

What if you are using a SSD? Would paging file makes SSD die quicker?

What you are saying is: IF your system has little amounts of memory, the system WILL freeze. Using a pagefile will make your computer super slow, before doing such a crash. That is a more realistic scenario than what is stated on top. It basically means : buy enough memory, and disable this feature which was made for computers in the 90's, running low on memory. Modern laptops need 12 Gig minimum, and desktops need 16 Gig minimum, in 2019. Running for years without pagefile, on several - very different - machines. No crash ever occured ...

i dont reccomend trying to disable pagefile especially if you have 8 gigs of ram or less (i have 8 gigs of ram in my gaming pc)

I’d better deactivated paging file for case because performance without paging file is better than with paging file. It was “committed” using more RAM usage than “use”. However, if disable it, it looks like you have limit to open apps as many as RAM can.

I have 32GiB memory in my computer since 2013. By default the maximum page file size is 4GiB. A computer with 8GiB memory with a full page file can manage 12GiB memory. I don't see the point to keep any page file around on my SSD. I've never seen a program crash due to out of memory. I wouldn't call "8GiB" memory "a lot" in 2016. That's more like average gamer setup.

Well I've got just over 700 gigabytes of RAM 748 or something like that I've got plenty of RAM but to be fair my laptop has 64 GB of RAM and I disabled the swap file completely. I just don't like the idea of having pagefile set to ssds where in the mouth quicker if you've got lots of memory use it it's much quicker.

I was told that disabling the page file can cause issues if even if you have 16 GB or RAM or more and don't need it. Been having BSOD's of Memory_Management when only 50% is being used. Gonna turn it back on and let you guys know if I keep BSODing.

W10 has RAM compression, its 2:1, and this was done to stop pagefile and VM writes to the OS C drive, as most C's are on an SSD now.
It was recognized that there was too many writes from pagefile and VM wearing down SSD's.
You can turn off page file on your C drive, it will not effect the performance of W10.
Plenty of articles scattered all over the net regarding this feature.
I have 64GB of RAM (4x8) .... Thats 128 compressed.
32GB is RAM plenty, as it is compressed and even with the unpacking, is still 4x faster than any SSD.
