Being a YouTuber is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of help from Fame- ster of course) will always pay off at the end.

I started my channel at 58 years old when I retired and two and a half years later I have a new career. What a whirlwind. Thanks for your content Sean.

This was great! I started my channel a year ago but was too insecure to put myself out there so kept delaying it. 3 weeks ago I had a word with myself and started to do it the right way. In 3 weeks I'm over 1K subs, 24, 000 views and so many lovely messages. Best thing I've ever done at the ripe old age of 52 lol. The legacy thing is absolutely real. My grandkids will see me long after I'm gone and maybe learn some art 😂

A few remarks brought me to tears! So true! When he said if he died tomorrow his children can learn about him through his videos. This made me decide for sure to press record, thank you ❤️

Sean your piece on legacy is 100% my words to my wife when I started our channel. EXACTLY word for word. I said you mock me now but when I leave this earth you will watch these videos on repeat. She chuckle…hmmm DOH!! 😮

I recently had my first short go over 10, 000 views and ever since then, my numbers have just started climbing. ❤

YouTube never fails to amaze me how old videos can do well.

Make the best video you can, sometimes it doesn't do well and you scratch your head and it doesn't make sense that it didn't pop

Then a year or two down the line, it just takes off.

I have seen it happen so many times 😊

Sean, your story at GWVL this year was so open and inspirational, and your courage in being your open genuine self on your platform just shows me how even someone who is an established pro is growing that much more each production/project/iteration. Glad I got to do the bingo and meet our mutual friend, Jeremy. I got to be the most open I have been with people in the industry because I have wanted to avoid being blackballed. Now I get, just get good and be real. Thanks man, I hope we can do a talk like this when my main channel catches wind. The recent guest you had with the uneducatedeconomist was appealing and true to the content I started on this channel. But we iterate and grow. Keep going!

I just started making shorts… to dip my toe in. I gave myself deadlines to post a video of two weeks. Gotta start somewhere. Thank you for sharing this discussion

I started a channel a long time ago too. And like you I finally got serious. Now I have 230 subs. I didn’t start a new channel. I just got specific on the one I created and started doing videos for a particular audience. Hope that helps.

I love the Legacy part you spoke about. If all else fails...my kids have something to remember me by and hopefully be inspired by. YouTube is for sure a marathon, and after pivoting from one niche to another and being inconsistent with uploading, I hope to crawl back out on top. And 'top' means something different for different people...my success will not look like someone elses.
