Missoula begins work on tree hazards left over from summer storm

Contractors started work bright and early Tuesday in Missoula's Franklin to the Fort neighborhood -- the first few cuts toward eliminating more than 5,000 hanging and dead limbs from July's severe storm.

“There are five zones in the city that we’re working through. Today we started the first one,” John Paul Brandon, a logistics and data manager for Greenbelt Turf Management LLC., said. “It’s about 4,500 trees that are spread out throughout the city, and we’ll have to visit every one of them and mitigate the dangerous risk, the hanging limbs.”
