I've been to that canyon, hiked on that trail. It is beautiful and fascinating. I'm glad I went, but I can't say I will ever feel completely relaxed in a slot canyon, even on a sunny day.

I’ve hiked through this canyon…very pretty, not very long but any slot canyon is very dangerous if there’s any storms within 100 miles.

As beautiful as Utah is and it is magnificent, when it rains bad things can happen and happen quickly. In 2015 a flash flood in southern Utah killed 21 people in a single day -- 8 of them in a slot canyon in Zion NP.

I read a story, possibly reddit but can't say for sure. The 'teller' was experienced, had gone into slots before. The day he and his buddy went the chance of t storms was low, wasn't quite the season and the chance was under 10% so they went. And like this unexpected, they heard the thunder, saw the light darken. They were in a bad section for refuge; but they had passed a safer area not long before so they booked back to that place. The water was already rising but they managed to climb up and away. Even the most experienced can sometimes be caught despite being on guard

I really hate that happened to those kids . I lost one of my classmates to a flooded spillway when I was in second grade . I think about him from time to time. Over the years a few people I knew have drowned . One crossed a swollen river one night while hunting by himself . He was never found . Two brothers dove from a boat they rented and the current swiftly took there lives . Only the kids were left on the boat . That was a very sad day . Again to friends of mine were fishing one morning on a boat and failed to come back . Found them the next day . If you are a hiker of these low places include a flotation device in your pack .

One must get to higher ground always and sometimes in a slot canyon that might not be possible against rock face cliffs on each side

KSL engineers: You forgot your audio-level check on this one. Normalization needed.

Looked like Down Town Tampa in late August.

Would you go into a blow hole during low tide if tide was dependent on a huge drainage basin and you did not check the forecast for the entire drainage basin? Seems a dumb risk.

Happened in a Flash! That's why they're called "Flash Floods"!

At 2:01 you can see two people. Looks like children but hard to tell. Hope those two made it out.

Why was there mention of the two young hikers in that canyon by themselves? Since do a 7 and a 3 year old go hiking in a canyon by themselves??

This is a glaring omission from this report which may be partly due to the edit. If that was the case the editor of this video was incompetent.
