How I obtained a copy of my VA Breakdown letter to include the diagnostic codes.

I called the VA at 800-827-1000 and inform them that:

“I would like a summary letter/disability breakdown letter to include, all my service-connected conditions, percentages and diagnostic codes.” (If you are not service connected, you will not have one). Also, you can have them email or fax (if you don’t have a fax at home, you can download a fax app in the play store on your phone) this information, if the person doesn’t want to email or fax it, hang up and call back and speak to someone else.

As a Senior NCO in the Army, I was DETERMINED to document ALL of my medical issues, because that’s what I always told all of my troops to do; lead by example. I received hate from higher for this. I was called a “poor leader” and a “shitbag” for missing time due to surgeries from injuries. I was bullied, badgered, and abused, and they attempted to intimidate me to take an early medical retirement. I refused. I continued to do a damn good job, I passed ALL of my APFTs, and was never on weight control, and I completed all assigned missions. It didn’t matter. I received a LOT of hate. I gave the Army my heart, soul, and body. I retired with 30 years of service, and am 100% P&T with the VA.

You know the saddest part of it all? We have to fight the ones we fought for!

Brother thank you for what your doing! I’m a 100% disabled all related to my service. My issues are with my service in Camp Lejeune and Parris Island. Two deadly cancers and after that a spinal injury that wrecks me everyday, and still besides my Bride of 43 years my service was my greatest honor. I pray that GOD opens the window of Heaven and pours out HIS Blessings upon every service member past, present and future. Semper Fi, Doc

Great gouge, as a soon to be retired MSgt in the Corps at 20 years! I took advice from peers and prior leaders and started getting seen for everything I didn’t as a young devil dog at 17 years. As a young motivator it was frowned upon to go to medical, as a seasoned warrior it’s impossible because we are taught to put ourselves aside for our subordinates and at the end of the day once the boots come off no one cares. Whether it’s combat, training, leadership it’s our responsibility to take care of ourselves! My advice to anyone behind me is please go to medical, file paperwork and get copies, never accept a NO and pass on the information you to learn! Thanks for the information because you are changing lives 💯

This man is a genius. I just got placed at 70% for PTSD and 0% for migraines secondary to PTSD and all I submitted was my DD214 from Afghanistan. I looked up the definitions and the DSM5 criterion or whatever it was called. Glad he just confirmed all that. Will be watching how to win for tinnitus next.

Dewayne, I've been following your channel for 6 months now. This is by far one of the best informational videos to date. There are a lot of veterans that don't have their military medical records, but yet have their respective DD214 as proof of said MOS/Rate as proof or evidence. Thank you for your continued support & service.

Dewayne, your channel is a God send. I’m a retired SSG that has been rated at a 100% P&T. After finding your page and coming across vets who’ve seen way more action than me and far more debilitating issues, I send them to your channel b/c you explain everything in the simplest of terms and give them hope. Keep up the good work.

When I got out of the military, I was the model soldier according to leadership that doesn’t want you to go to sick call. I didn’t document anything. Since I got out, my mental health has declined, my back has gotten worse, and my hearing is awful compared to people my age. I was in a special operations unit with two combat deployments and a bunch of jumps. I still have all my military records like deployment orders, dd214, airborne orders, jump logs, CIB award, etc… This is my first video of yours and it is extremely helpful as I get ready to submit my first claim years after my separation.

Thanks this helps a lot. I was a 82nd airborne paratrooper for 3 years never when to sick call. Now that am older in age I am starting to experience left knee pain. Your information helps me to tie this back to service connected.

Great info. If I knew in 2016 what I know now (and was honest about my mental health) I would've been 100 P&T 8 years ago. Keep educating! Just bought the book.

I got denied Tinnitus twice. The VA would make appointments for me to get an audio exam. Although I honestly felt that I didn't do well on the audio exams, somehow the audio examiner would say that my results were acceptable enough to deny tinnitus. You can't measure ringing in the ear.

My neck, back, shoulder, hips and knees are all kinds of jacked up from jumping. Ended up with just tinnitus from the VA

my DAV lady really helped me with my PTSD rating which was caused by MST. It was turned down twice, until she found my Navy Evals and that was like finding gold. Hard to prove what happened when the people did things in private behind closed doors, the Navy Evals showed how bad I was struggling and i won and got my rating!!
