so I watched this particular video four or five times. I even got out of notepad the third time and took notes. We have a three month old border collie. It is my second border collie. My first one still with us is 11 years old and he is amazing. Always been a little bit subservient calm, eager to please always happy and I made the mistake of assuming the puppy would be the same. I got the dog from the same people I got my first dog from the puppy is actually my dog sister’s kid. He was a complete angel for the first two months then all of a sudden, everything you’ve pretty much described in this video and it wasn’t until I watched this video and humbled myself myself and put my ego aside that I realized I’ve been doing everything completely wrong. I say all of this to thank you from the very bottom of my heart at 47 years old. I realize it’s not about training the dog. It’s about training myself and my actions. And sometimes I need someone to open my eyes up to that at this particular time that is you. I’ve done everything you have suggested. I even spent the first day literally walking around my house on my hands and knees to try to get in the perspective of the puppy. I sometimes make the mistake of expecting the dog to be human. I’m so used to and comfortable with my dog that the new one unfairly was being treated the same, which was impossible for him to comprehend. We are taking him to the vet this week, his baby teeth are probably hurting him so badly. The first day of the new style of training, I did not reach out to pet him anymore. I let him come to me. I let him invite me to pet him when he was playing with his toys. I didn’t reach for them or try to grab them from him or play tug-of-war. Even after only 10 minutes of putting his toys out and just letting him chew, I noticed he was continually watching me as if to say, please don’t grab my stuff. after about 20 minutes, I’ve just sitting in the room with him without reaching out to pet him to grab his toys. He started to back into me and sit on my foot or lean into me and eventually would put the toy in front of me at my feet I separated him from the older dog. I’ve noticed that my older dog in fact has been semi traumatized, and after some inspection of his ears under all that thick, long border collie hair, I realized it he was pretty injured from the little nibbling on him consistently now that they’re separated both both of them seem much happier and more calm.. instead of reaching out to pet and play with him I spent the time just observing his actions and realized whenever I put a toy on the floor instead of just going for it he check to see where his food is where his water is where his bed is like a little patrol to make sure that all of his resources are safe before he can play just like you described. so again 1000 times thank you so much. I’m going to continue watching more of your videos. I’m so appreciative that you have spent the time and that you have the same apparent love of animals that so many of us do that you would be willing to put the effort into help others thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you

I have an 8 week old puppy and lately I’ve noticed every time I try to correct him or redirect him from biting me to a toy he starts to bark back at me and growls then lunges seeming frustrated. I’m not sure how to properly handle his mini outbursts as I fear he may keep this habit and it’ll become worse with age so I want to attempt changing it now.

This has helped me a lot with my 4 month old Aussie - Your advice to break down the incident is invaluable

I’ve figured it out by observing my puppy. She was doing this when over tired. And also when in fear. Helps a lot to know that

I have a mini Australian Shepard, and at first it was the average puppy bitting but now his mood can change in an instant to nipping. It’s never broken the skin but always ends in red marks. If you touch him and he does not want to be touched or told what to do he will begin nipping at your hands, lips curling up as he runs around you to prevent you from stopping him. I am at a loss for what to do as this has been ongoing since his puppy training. Our trainer was getting him to sit, and used his hand to push his butt down (not aggressively whatsoever.) and he began whaling and throwing himself onto the ground to try and bite the trainer. The trainer got him to submit and told us to make sure to press his butt down every now and then so he may know it’s okay and that it should be tolerated by him. However, it is not tolerated. Nothing is. Every day he nips, everyday isn’t always “agressive” so to say, but is not preventable in my dogs eyes. He does not listen and will often times run around like he has zoomiez as he nips at your hands relentlessly until you leave the room. I think it’s notable to mention he has lost all his baby teeth and is nearing a year old, about 11 months. Last time he had been to the vet (during the nipping phases as well.) nothing was wrong. I presume it is fear based as he will often times run under a table, bed or couch when you walk towards him (typically after telling him to come.). Sos. ☹️

What if its kids? Toddlers playing.... he chases them and when i stop him (he jumps and nips like he would with another puppy) he starts to bark and growl now. She mentioned fear and frustration. Fear of the kids and frustration he cant get to them and play. How do i fix that???

can you put together a series where you start with an aggressive dog and then show the techniques in action so people can get a "hands on" look out how to properly employ the techniques?

We have a corgi/aussie mix puppy, 3 months old.. She’s incredibly vocal, constantly growling and high pitch barking (not always during play, she high pitch barks to go outside to potty). She is our first corgi, we have another aussie.. Honestly, it’s tough to tell if she’s just vocal or if she’s actually upset and aggressive. Occasionally we can tell the difference (like when our 6 year old scares her on accident when she’s sleeping vs when she’s playing rough with our mini aussie) but sometimes it’s kind of tough.

I have 1 year old dog, she will show agressive response when i am about to carry her... Maybe because when i carry her, its means she will taking a bath (she hated it), what should i do to make her more calm when i carry her? Thanks

The dog I have now is just confusing. She'll come up to you pawing at your shoulder or gesturing to be belly rubbed then the second you give her a pat she's vicious and bites or snaps, not even a growl. I don't know what to do at this point because I can't read her whatsoever.

my puppy suddenly hot very angry at us. biting, barking, hawling, and not eating, we managed to calm him and eventually he slept, but at night he scape and run away, later that night, we noticed his sibling bleeding, probably he bit it, never saw my lost puppy again, probably he got a rabies...

Our 4 month old puppy bites us if we have to physically pick her up to bring her inside (she wants to stay outside), if we try to take away something she's chewing on that's dangerous for her and just now when I tried to look to see why she was licking her paw. She leaves puncture wound and draws blood. Tense body, growling bark. She's usually very friendly and sweet and loves her family so much but she has started to show aggression with biting us. Not sure what to do.

This was super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to share. Would this same concept apply in aggression towards another dog? We have a puppy showing slight aggression around food and new toys towards other dogs.

My dog so aggressively, but he’s a puppy we’re trying to give him a little trim to cut his hair, but he’s so aggressive that he keeps on barking at us. We try to take him to the doctors but he hasn’t gotten his shots and we don’t know how to train him to behave

Got our puppy 1 month ago, been to the vet repeatedly. My dog will go from sweetness to kujo in a heartbeat and I'm told that's just being a puppy, give him treats and praise him when she doesn't bite 😠 riiiight, like that works. Did finally learn she has a bladder infection and is now on antibiotics 🤞 let's pray this works

My puppy is only aggressive to some other people. New and family members. They’re not even near him when he starts growling and when they get closer to him he really gets aggressive 😭. He wasn’t like that and he doesn’t do it all the time.

my puppy is being aggressive towards my 2 yr old out of fear. she hasnt hurt him, but she's very loud and moves fast. if she moves to fast near him, he will growl and lunge at her. how do I fix this??? i cant stop my 2 year old from playing and I cant keep the dog away from her, as then the dog would never have free roam of the home because where I am, my daughter is and we originally got a puppy to grow up with her and he doesnt like her 😭
