The first thing you need to do is take away bed and couch privileges.

They probably ignored the dogs warning signs for wanting to be left alone, aka crossing the dogs boundaries. And now the dog feels the need to communicate in stronger ways such as growling/biting in order to be listened to.

This was covered by several BALANCED trainers and the people involved stated on their social media account that dispite purely positive methods and positive reinforcement training, the behavior was getting much worse and they couldn't understand why. This dog is correcting them for disturbing his comfort and sleep while he is on the bed which is a prime sleeping area. The first step after ruling out a health or pain issue, is to find a balanced trainer and remove ALL access to beds and furniture. Attach a cotton drag line indoors; reaching for the dog or the collar, to physically remove him will guarantee a bite.

Pain can cause new behaviours I went through it. They don't have a voice so that's how they are expressing themselves. Very true.

I had a dog do this. Took months of just ignoring her to stop it but most likely it’s resource guarding spaces. Couch bed etc. block access to the bed and couch

No the first thing they need to do is show that dog they are not afraid of it…I’ve never been afraid of dogs I went up to complete strays and I’ve never been bit but dogs can sense emotions…that’s everyone’s first mistake is not showing the animal assertiveness and affection….

This type of behavior can actually come about from us people essentially "bullying" our dogs when it comes to being on the furniture. Especially through inconsistency in rules about being allowed on furniture, but also not teaching your dog a proper "off" command with reinforcement, and not reinforcing them for being where you want them to be instead, can all make approaches stressful for them to the point they feel like they need to defend themselves. I went through it with a previous dog many years ago, and as soon as I changed to positive training methods this issue disappeared completely (and our relationship changed 100% for the better).

This is high quality advice, taking the dog to check for health problems is also very important. Thanks for raising awareness!

My dog turned 6 months last month and I’m glad I got him as a puppy because he’s responding to all training, he’s already potty trained and knows 8 commands now he will literally drag my foot to his potty spot

The very first thing you should do is correct that dog and show that behavior is not acceptable.

Guys my 15 months male mixed dog is very much aggressive but like his bed guarding ...or food guarding ..i feed him often with hands from his first days .
After dinner he gets very much excited or aggressive last time he finished dinner and came to me and just got my wrist in his mouth and my other arm as well ....

From that day he is not coming into rooms and at night he is in his room closed after pee and potty ..
He never potty or pee inside house he waits allways but we give him 15 km walk running ...

What's a positive reinforcement dog trainer going to do? Ignore him when he does it and throw hot dogs when he doesn't? 😂

A family member rescued a homeless rat terrier and he acts like this. When treat's are used he's a sweetheart 🥰

Dog behaviorist use more than just positive training. They use operant conditioning

Don't be scared of your dog, it's a must. If they misbehave, you have to correct them. I straddled my dog and grabbed his muzzle, when he bit me, He hasn't bitten me once since then. Because he knew I am the boss since.

And don't forget to show love towards them as always, otherwise, they will not trust you.

Discipline and love, that's it.

Id a very affectionate cat that suddenly started hissing she had a fatal illness. In this case better get a call out vet rather than lose an arm and describe issues over phone beforehand

1. Off the bed.
2. Into the crate.
3. To the vet.
