I have had Sonos for 10 years. Have 2 Gen 1 play 5's, 4 play 1's, 2 Subs, 2 bridges, 1 connect and 1 playbar. I bought into the Sonos dream a long time ago and wont change, spent too much investing in it. No regrets. I listen mostly to siriusXM, apple music and spotify. Digitized all my CD's and many albums. They are all on my NAS and accessible by Sonos. My Dual 630Q turntable is connected to Sonos through my connect and spins all my old vinyl, 1000's of them, in any room at any time, while playing something else in the kitchen. LOVE Sonos. SUB is a must. I have 2 and plan to get a third. When I crank it... The neighbors call the cops..

I bought the Bose the other week.
Great sound but full of problems!
After 3 days it decided it didn't like to connect to the acoustimass sub anymore then it didn't want to play any sound from TV. Went through lots of problem solving via the Bose community pages seamed to work in getting the TV to reconnect but sub still cutting off after 20 secs. Tried to hardwire, didn't work either. Got a service sound engineer to come out. As soon as he saw it he said that they have lots of problems after an hour of trying to get it to work he recommended taking it back as it was suffering from software problems like a lot of them.
Never had so many problems with an electrical item in my life. What a load of rubbish for a premium product. Have now bought the sonos playbar, much happier now.

Heard both, Bose have full advantage of creating true imagery, the low frequency is tighter and the adapt/IQ in my opinion is a much more in depth calibration tool offering better results over the Sonos approach. When driving both systems at high levels Bose really outshines the Sonos set up by delivering a high fidelity sound with no distortion. I'd recormend both systems as they are both very capable and will deliver, if you want the best then go for the Bose option!

I have had the Bose, so I am going to try the Sonos. And I’m going to purchase all separate. I have begun with the 2 Sonos 1’s. Then the Arc and sub.

I have both these, both 5.1 and sound decent as stand alone bars, Sonos is easier to pair but needs apple product for calibration. The Bose sounds better imo plus ARC, bluetooth & 4k passthru, Bose has really stepped up on this bar, with some of their best sounding lows ever! IF using ARC you wont be required to use their remote, your standard TV remote will work.

I’ve been a Bose person for a long time due to the compactness of the systems. Sound quality is all right but is acceptable for their convenience. I recently switched everything to SONOS. The sound quality of dialogue and clear crisp base is better than Bose. Sound quality is subjective, but considering all the features SONOS offers over Bose to me there isn’t any other compact system I would want to buy.

I have to weigh in here, I am an industry professional running an integration company. For our domestic avenue, we have integrated tons of both in all kinds of environments.
We have no affiliation with Bose or Sonos. And neither are a supplier.
I am happy to provide a real world breakdown for anyone actually considering either of these bars.
Remember these are systems primarily and designed to be added onto. There are plenty of bar options but investing in an audio ecosystem requires thought. As sound is subjective and we presume both sound great. I can safely assess at this point on time the Sonos ecosystem is the clear winner it gets 9/10 and comparably the Bose a 5-6/10.
There is no emotional weight in this assertion. It is a simple field comparison with client feedback and enjoyment.
Let's just say we have zero clients regretting buying the Sonos.
Happy to answer questions!

I went with the Bose. Due to the fact that the HDMI ports are on the Bose. The Sonos was lacking that feature. This allows me to basically run my PS4, Direct Tv, X Box 1 and whole home system in multiple rooms. Both are awesome and well worth the money. I also opted for the subwoofer and the invisible speakers. Which sound amazing.

The Sonos has no hdmi connection is unable decode dts theatre surround sound and no blue tooth.

I have had the sonos with separates for around 4 years and I’m happy with it. However my Bro has bought the Samsung atmos sound bar with separates for around £1000 which is currently cheaper than the Sonos with separates.

As a comparison having listened to both when playing dts surround sound the Samsung differentiates and separates the sound a lot clearer. In atmos it again takes the sound it to another level. Both have nice sounding base.

Musically I would say acoustically they are on par with each other and both sound sweet.

When I purchased the Sonos It was probably the best sounding wireless system to buy and still is up there however it has now been around for a while and is now a little dated from the competition.

It will be very interesting to see what Sonos have in mind if any to to bring their system up to date?

I had the complete Bose soundtouch system. It sounds great when all working together. I ultimately returned the product due to the sub and rear speakers constantly disconnecting. The wifi had to constantly be reset because these speakers wouldn't connect all the time. My wifi speeds are 75mbps and still had these connection issues. If it wasn't for this issue the system is great but Bose needs to work on this issue.

You can mount the Playbar on the wall without an accessory kit, they have screw holes. The mount is the way to go for $40 though... Also, you can use the Play 5 (generation 2) as surrounds if you really wanted to spend the extra money. Personally, I would put them elsewhere in the house, the Play 1s are more than enough sound for rears in most rooms.

I just went to Best Buy. This two are both great! But if you get the bar and the woofer sonos wins in my ear

Have you tried using them together? Like the Bose Bar with maybe Play 3 or Play 5 as surround? What software on the phone would we use to run all of them together? Any users here who could share thier experience please

I have the Sonos speakers thought my house and just added the play bar, sub and have two play ones for the rears. We absolutely love it, I haven’t the Bose but the Sonos set up in my mind is worth every penny. I’m using a harmony companion remote and I works with volume. Absolutely love it sounds incredible no regrets.
