I have a Sony X90CH 65” in main living room along with a playbar, sub, and two one’s as rear speakers for a 5.1. I have a play one in the bedroom, a one in another bedroom, a one in the office, a beam along with two ones for rear speakers, and finally a three in the kitchen that we take out on the deck while having a cookout. Love the system, quite pricey but worth the no hassle.

Robb. Thank you for offering such a thorough review. I've seen at least 20 videos that were saying the same thing. You actually helped me out. I bought four sets of the Sonos One SLs and I was going to return them. Thank you.

Great review and good information for the new user. I love ours and use a 5.1 set up in our main great room. similar to your we have 18ft ceilings and hard floors. The sub hits extremely well and is totally amazing. I came from the same room with carpet, slightly different layout and two paradigm subs and don't miss any of the expensive but larger equipment. we've since added something Sonos in every room including two play 5's in my garage. I love the fact that we have one in every bathroom too and when we have parties, I simply move them out onto the patio and set up a room with them in just a few minutes.

Probably the best Sonos review to date! No hype, just the straight goods. Bang on with the Sub! Went to Best Buy today to listen...was expecting more from the Sub for the price. Wish Sonos had a down-firing 12.

Glad they now support DTS. Just ordered the full system today based on this. Playbar, Sub and 2 x Play 1's. £1800 savings gone but worth it as I've been waiting for them to support DTS 😀 sold my B&W Panorama 2 too for cheap as I needed it and couldn't afford it unless I sold it too, so sold it for cash collection on ebay.

Gutted as that supported DTS too, but it wasn't able to be used with the Sonos ecosystem. 😀😀😀

One of the best reviews I have seen- covered multiple areas and with complete candor. Thanks Robb, great work!

Anyone notice he starts talking loudly and ends getting quite quiet before getting loud again?

If you want to put sound on your computer, one way could be to get a play:5. Even though it’s so expensive, it adds an amazing touch and has an audio input you could use.

I am a Sonos fan. That said, the lack of HDMI means an inability to accept higher end uncompressed audio and a limited acceptance of mid tier audio. For me, this makes it a no go in a main viewing room. Oddly, the smaller Sonos Beam does have an HDMI. My true preference would be a pair of HDMI 2.1 inputs and one output. I really don't want to switch through my tv but want room for a video game system + Roku or 4K Blu-ray player. This Sonos combo does make a nice pick for a secondary viewing location ... but is pricey as such.

You can use a Sonos connect for your computer, and other existing components. I chose Sonos to play my turntable on the entire system. I like that I can label one play one speaker portable and take it outside or use it anywhere in the house. I do wish the play bar had hdmi

Great Review Rob . I am wondering if you get Sonos Arc now, how the Atmos will work in your double story living room. I have a very similar living room and think about getting Arc home theater .

Thanks for the great overall info.
I have a Sonos playbar, sub and just recently added 2 play1’s as a 5.1.
My question is can I compartmentalize the play 1’s to use as stereo speakers when playing music?

It’s very expensive. But, the subwoofer is like a piano, it’s beautiful and the bass really puts out a balanced bass range. However, you need a strong Wifi for decent power.

Robb, thanks for the review. Very helpful; as far as it went. Have you considered doing an "update" to the review? Sonos has released a variety of new products and some of these may address some of the issues/concerns you have within this video. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Thank you a lot man, perfect review.... showing the airplay and alexia turn on/off features was awesome for me. One question: when its connected to the TV, and you want to play something through air play, is it simple? The beam just start playing the music from your cellphone, and after that, it automatically connects back to the TV sound or you have to do some procedure?

You can get a Sonos connect device, which have audio inputs you can use from your PC and connect it to your Sonos system.

It can also work the other way and add different non Sonos speakers into the Sonos system by connecting it to the output side on the Sonos connect unit.

This should sort out the issues with your PC

Great review. I just purchased the playbase with sonos 1 and subwoofer. Not for a "true" theater room but exactly what you're looking for if you have a few bucks to spend for the convenience.
