Gold and Silver act as my "off-the-grid" savings, and I only buy during major dips like we've seen recently. They help me resist impulse spending on things I don't really need. Having physical Gold and Silver means I can quickly access funds in an emergency—just sell at my local coin shop and walk out with cash. I’m not expecting them to skyrocket or make me rich; it's more about stability and security.

These gold dealers always look like the scummiest dudes on earth. The kind of guys that wear too much cologne and make a pass at your wife and they’re not even drunk.

Investors are drawn to gold for several reasons: its long-standing history as a store of value and medium of exchange, its effectiveness as a hedge against inflation or currency devaluation, and its scarcity compared to other commodities. Gold also provides diversification benefits, as it typically has a low correlation with traditional assets like stocks and bonds. However, it's important to recognize that investing in gold carries certain risks and may not suit every investor. It’s essential to assess your financial objectives, risk tolerance, and overall financial situation before making any decisions.

Unrelated, but let's say you came into some extra funds and and bought a gold chain worth say 15k, how much could you sell it for in two years if you needed the cash? Do they usually go up in value or lose worth over time?

When your too poor to love gold you feel nothing for it. For it's beauty alludes the poorest hands and the rich lose themselves for it. Till they all forget their brother and what it's like to love another. So it is for many to have nothing and see it all before your eyes but never to obtain what could change your world.

Those vintage items shouldn’t ever be melted down in my opinion. Worth more than just plain gold.

As long as there's no paper trail... buy gold... but as soon as the government knows you're holding, they will tax it! 😅😅😅

Gold value is almost always at an all time high, because you measure it against currency which is perpetually inflating. It holds its value in a way that currency can’t because in order to get more gold you have to physically mine it out of the ground, no one can’t just print the amount they want of it like the treasury can with money.

This reminds me of the south park "home shopping network" episode

There’s no way he has an inventory list on all of those chains and every item in his store. Not even counting the stuff they put in a scrap pile. I bet there are a lot of people with sticky fingers that work for him. A solid gold ring from the scrap here, a solid gold bracelet there. He would never know
