Unrelated, but let's say you came into some extra funds and and bought a gold chain worth say 15k, how much could you sell it for in two years if you needed the cash? Do they usually go up in value or lose worth over time?

Gold value is almost always at an all time high, because you measure it against currency which is perpetually inflating. It holds its value in a way that currency can’t because in order to get more gold you have to physically mine it out of the ground, no one can’t just print the amount they want of it like the treasury can with money.
