Sounds about right. Insurance companies only accept donations.

Why did she tell them she had the app on? They wouldn't have known otherwise.

The bigger issue here is that you have to pay extra for insurance and let your insurance company know if you are using a car for any business purpose. This woman has only herself to blame. She only had liability on her personal insurance not collision. And she didn't buy a policy that covered commercial use

I agree with the insurance company. If you want to do stupid stuff like Uber that is what you get. Pay for the extra insurance

Maybe people won't like this, but you need to buy the right insurance. Personal insurance is cheaper than commercial insurance. There's a reason, like your car gets driven less, you're not carrying commercial passengers that will sue if something goes wrong, and the like. Commercial use is a higher risk. The same for doing stuff like delivering for Doordash. If you're doing this, call your insurance company and ask for a personal policy that covers commercial use. If personal policies covered this, all personal policies would cost more, including people who do nothing but drive between their home and the supermarket. They won't be happy their policies cost more because other people are using their cars to Uber with.

Insurance companies are still the worse. Regardless of this situation.

Rideshare companies run by gangsters 😮. Don’t expect much when you are in trouble.

If you can’t afford full coverage insurance, then don’t drive. Plain and Simple.

Really nothing to report here. Every drivers knows that you aren’t covered in period one. That’s why as a driver while in period one my car stays parked. If I have no ride and I’m not making money, my wheels don’t spin.

$6600? 🙄 go to the junkyard and get you a new bumper for $200 and install it yourself.

Why would she expect the damage to be covered if she only had liability coverage? If she was at-fault, which it sounds like she was, it would be covered by collision coverage.

I was hit by an uninsured motorist driver in Las Vegas, he ran a red light and tboned me which totaled my Elantra N-Line…Uber doesn’t cover uninsured motorist??? Fractured my neck, broke my wrist and didn’t receive any medical help.

If someone hit her, their insurance should be responsible, not hers. Why does she have to pay for it? Generally the vehicle which strikes another vehicle is responsible for the accident. Is liability insurance not required in Utah? I mean, in Texas I can't even renew my registration without having valid insurance. It's electronically registered with the state.

She didn't even have anything more than basic liability? And she's driving for a living? Maybe that's why a Taxi costs a bit more - because they have full and proper insurance and it is expensive. This can even go for part time pizza delivery guys. You use your car for a work purpose and you don't have the proper insurance, you are taking a big, big risk should you get into an accident.

Uber and Lyft have been around for 10+ years. It’s up to you to know the rules and laws in your state. Most insurance companies consider it fraud if you don’t let them know and ask for ride-share coverage cause you are acting as a taxi.
