Photos won't work. Because I use my own insurance, I'm very thorough in inspecting the car before I take it out of the rental place. When I return it, I always ask the person to check the car and make sure everything is fine before I leave. I make photos and videos in case there's any damage at the pickup. But I got to say that experience I'm having right now with Avis/Budget company is on another level. Today I got a letter from Avis telling me that my card will be charged $477 for a glass damage on a car which I rented from them 6 months ago. There was no damage, the Avis person did inspection but all that doesn't matter. When ask for the proof of damage and repair, they don't give any answer but instead they say "this happened because I declined insurance". It almost sounds as an semi-automated email. Unfortunately, I'm just realizing that a lot of people have the same experience either with Avis or Enterprise. This is what fraud and monopoly look like.

When renting a car, they should have to give you a print out of any previous damages on record. There also needs to be better protections for people, but for some reason that never happens. Why are these companies able to do this so much!

It's not up to the company to prove the damage was there, it's up to the customer.

You always do a video before leaving to make sure you have proof.

Every single customer who returns with damage will swear on their mother's grave that it wasn't them.

But rent a car companies have all the damage documented, as they always register them after the drop off.
