I finally came watched this video (18 months later) .. Maya is truly a masterpiece now ; this is functionality that was in the lower end 3D packages that made it more intuitive to an animator (who, like me, had to download a zillon scripts to do this same technique in Maya). Great job Maya dev. team. For those who comment about having "too many editors" (dope sheet, etc) I think that's like saying "my Ferrari goes to fast..." .. pick what works for your pipeline, as the legacy dope sheet is useful for those who have pipeline tools built around it but the time editor is an A+ for those who can adopt an NLE-like approach to animation...

A fist bump is what people do these days instead of a handshake a fist pump is what the animation was doing.

Hey I have a scene with my rig which has animation on it, iv deleted that and imported in an animation which is something taken from the same rig but the animation in the composition section does nothing to the rig itself. how do I guess apply the time editor to the rig?

I was so excited to use this, but the additive layer aren't effecting HIK rigs as you've shown on here. Is there a special trick to working with HIK and additive/override layers that you haven't shown here?

So, what became of the Set Scene Timecode feature? The Time Editor's home is in exactly the same place as the old function, so I'm guessing it got absorbed?

Hello there. I was wondering about something. Is it possible to mix body part animations? For example. Using the walk cycle from one clip to animate the legs while overriding its arms animations with another clip. Great tutorial btw :)

So how the hell do you bake your animation clip to your joints instead of the conrol objects through the time editor? Every time I bake it just bakes the keyframes but not the the selection.

Im having a huge problem with the time editor. i think its a glitch or something. When i add a clip layer (additive or override) and set a key frame to my main character controller to move him around (ive created a run cycle on the spot and want to move the main controller) the entire mesh folds up on itself. ive tried everything but no fix. There is obviously the way in import an animation from the scene into the time editor and exportign it as an fbx. Is this reversible? Can i reverse my time editor fbx file into keyframes in the timeline for me to edit separately? this would save me...

Can I add two different motion clips so that, leg part is assigned with one mocap and upper body is assigned by another different mocap..

Did you do anything special before saving these animations as Maya Binaries? Because when I drag an mb file into my editor, my whole maya crashes.

How well does it bake looped clips walk and run cycle back down keys? I just learned the Trax editor in 2014 and if a character set baked down to keys on looped clip it can be a problem. Thanks for this tutorial, the ghosting looks great.
