WW1 being nicknamed as "the War to end all Wars" was probably the best joke ever written

Rip to all those fallen soldiers. Fighting a pointless war. The horrors these men had to face. Can’t even imagine it as I type on my smart phone eating breakfast. Be grateful

There is a lot of stories of WW1 where troops shot their own because they couldn’t see who it was. Because remember it was dark only lit by moonlight.

soldier 1: "i ran out of ammo."
*soldier 2 gave soldier 1 stones*
soldier 2: "go monke mode."

To be precise, they used the trench clubs not because they were out of ammunition, but simply because they were much more effective in close quaters combat inside the trenches than bolt action rifles

Ahem, the worst part of being a trench soldier in WWI IS being a trench soldier in WWI

At least humanity has gotten past needing to fight pointless wars, right?....
Right??

The paranoia suffered by the soldiers of WW1 was brilliantly depicted in the episode "Yellow", from the tv series "Tales from the Crypt" (although that episode was originally made as part of a movie that served as the pilot for a spin-off that was cancelled), in which a General, played by Kirk Douglas, tries at all costs to stop his son, played by Eric Douglas, from being a coward in the front

Can confirm that trench foot is indeed one of the worst things that you can ever experience. Keep your feet dry, folks. You certainly do NOT want to end up with trench foot! Trust me....

Combat in ww1 was a lot more brutal than in ww2.

My great great grandpa knew some soldiers that layed down in the grass rather than the mud just so they have something to warm them up during the night.😢

Fun fact
That was on the British and french threnches
The German had a good side of the land where the trenches were much better built

I’ve done a lot of research on WWI and it was beyond brutal. Most people nowadays wouldn’t survive a week in what they went through.

i feel bad for the soldiers who surived in the trenches with these conditions all the way to the final day of war only to get shot and die, a war is truly the most unfair thing to exist

Imagine being a german soldier during WW1
You yust barely survived no man's land and got to the enemy trenches while seeing your friends and brothers die
You enter the trench ready to get some revenge
And you immidiatly die Because some french guy stuck in the mud found a Big stick

Props to the soldiers who had to go through this. It was truly a horrible time.

There wasn't just water in those trenches. It had blood, human waste, and who knows what else.

Honorable mention: the fact that one guy could blow a whistle and it meant that you just run out into the open in the hopes that the guy on the other side wasn’t already focused on you.
