Avoidance is the action of keeping away from or not doing something. For most of us with situation-specific anxiety (phobias, etc.) this is often the easiest option for coping with and preventing anxiety. Unfortunately, avoidant behavior has a tendency to shrink our comfort zone and lead to even worse anxiety in the long term. Don't make the same mistakes as me! In this video, I discuss how fear avoidance made my anxiety worse, and what I eventually learned about dealing with anxiety.

When you mentioned agoraphobia was like “oh heck no I don’t want to end up like that. But, then I remembered that after my first panic attack when I was in bed for a couple months living off of only a couple bowls of soup and taking prescribed Xanax, I had a fear of even being awake. Being awake and experiencing existence/reality started to cause panic attacks. And I think depersonalization and derealization played a huge role in that. I am over that point in life though I still struggle with panic attacks daily. Much love 🖤
