How Well Did Gran Turismo 7 Recreate The 992 GT3 RS?

The 1.40 Gran Turismo 7 Update added several cars. Here I compare the 992 GT3 RS to it's real life counterpart to see just how well Polyphony managed to re-create this feat of engineering!

I would like to point out that the fact that GT does not let you access every single parameter of a car's setup or physics parameter, doesn't mean that it is not actually computed at run time. I see this misconception going around a lot. For instance, I can't change the caster angle of my front wheels, yet that doesn't mean that the caster angle of each car is not accurately modeled, which it is. The detail in this game is insane, and that includes physics, aerodynamics and suspension geometry. Please just stop saying it is not a sim, I know you are afraid that some PC master-tards come and attack you in the comment, but the fact that the game runs on console, doesn't make it automatically 'not a sim' as a matter of principle. This semantic pandering is ridiculous and won't age well.

I do own the 992 GT3 RS and it is insane how close to realism the 992 GT3 RS is in the game. Really perfect work

When people say that "GT7 is not a sim" is because they refer to certain simplifications to the simulation and setup model to make it less cumbersome (i.e. Tyre Pressures and Temps are always optimal, setups aren't as complex as other sims) but GT definitely does an amazing job in replicating how cars feel to drive to their real life counterparts, sometimes much better than the very sims we are comparing to.

I've heard from people who owned cars that are in-game that they drive pretty much like that irl.

I have actually owned several of the cars in GT7 and I can tell you that (for instance) the S2000 drives *exactly* like a real S2000. Same goes for the Porsche 930. It’s an awesome simulator and it definitely isn’t “Simcade”. I can’t vouch for the high downforce race cars, but the street cars are sublime.

I think there is a lot of elitism in the SIM Racing community. A mentality has been created that "GT is a videogame", therefore inaccurate, which definitely does not correspond to reality.

I think that as time passes, and people experience GT again, the tendency is for more and more people to realize that GT is a Full Sim. It may be inaccurate in some things, but the whole package is fantastic for Petrolheads.

The cars feel so real when you slide out of bends and when it bounces out of the nurburgring carousel is sick, the spinning over humps and over apexes, this game is art and glad I’m alive to experience e racing in 2024

I own a Toyota GR86, and the GR86 in game feels very close to my car! Even the gear ratios are pretty spot on. It’s amazing how well the game can simulate my daily driver

The Porsche 992 GT3 RS 2022 in Gran Turismo 7 sounded almost identical to real life.

People are quick to brush off GT7 because its not a full sim, but its hilarious how the same people have been begging for a PC port just to make it easier to grab the car models for modding. Say whatever you want about GT, but its still the most sim in the sim-cade category, and has bar none the best car models in video games.

This is one of the best GT videos I've ever seen, congrats!
Please do more! 😅

this is honestly one of the most badazz gt7 vs real life vids I've seen in a long time. awesome work.

if you pause exactly at 4:18 both GT3 RS are at 108km/h and second gear.
And when you press play they accelerate and change gear at the same time.
crazy...

Thanks for making this video, it was fun to watch.
I was imaging it with track representation also at same season and time of day, as close as possible. really cool demonstration of simulated reality.

Fun fact, the suspension height on this 911 gt3 rs does change automatically while driving, which is why when tuning suspension it is recommended to set the suspension height to the default setting or else you get instability

Good work from PD. It's obvious that the real life version has greater grip in the slow to mid speed corners but PD looked to have worked around this by providing a little extra top speed to even it out.

I love the inclusion of side by sides, just listening to the audio makes me love how GT7 is so close to the real life sound.

incredible lap you did there to come so close to that original!

I always wonder how is it not a sub when the two times area usually almost identical to real life. Because u can't adjust tire pressure, that's dumb, it simulators an optimal pressure, other so called sims overcomplicate stuff and make driving harder than it is in real life. I heard Kaz say that driving is easy, easy to learn but hard to master, and GT simulates that

This is peak simulation! I can also tell, that he behaviour of the cars in the game is pretty similiar or exactly on point compared to the real ones. They really did their job great. Nothing will beat Gran Turismo overall. There may be more details in other games, but therefore lacking other type of content. Gran Turismo FOREVER!
