Walking Tall: Jim’s Fight | UCHealth

Jim Cohen built his name as a world-class chef with a legendary grit. But that grit would be put to the test one frightening morning in 2015. Jim awoke from sleep, unable to move and unable to call for help. He had suffered a major stroke and found himself paralyzed from the eyes down.

Jim was soon rushed to the hospital and eventually made his way to UCHealth. Jim’s future, however, was very uncertain. With the seemingly impossible goal of walking his daughter down the aisle at her wedding less than a year away, Jim had all the motivation he needed. He was further spurred on by a friendly bet from his friend Ben, a doctor at UCHealth, that Jim couldn’t walk within a year. Ben lost that bet.
