Many people here have fallen into the trap of arguing about what Yuja is wearing rather than discussing her musicianship which, of course, reinforces the point that her appearance has become more of a focus than the music. For the record, I consider her piano playing to be impeccable!

Enchanting woman, Yuja is not only a Classical Pianist, but a very sophisticated entertainer. I have been in a few of her recitals and she has proven to be the best i of the world in her craft.

*Just realized that some of Glass's music would make a great accompaniment for burlesque.*

A young person shows musical aptitude and takes lessons on the piano. Through years of dedication, she develops impressive skills and develops a deep love for the great piano sonatas and concertos. The student matures and works and studies to master the prodigious technical challenges of the repertoire and find the true musical and spiritual messages of the finest composers.
At last the student is ready to present the great music she loves to audiences who await the beauty, expression and brilliance they hope the performer will offer. At that point, the pianist says, "I think I will wear a dress slit up to my hip so the audience will notice my legs while I am playing this wonderful, profound music!"
Why? Who would do that, unless:

A. She has no faith in her ability to be an important artist based on her playing.
B. She is very proud of her body and wants that to be the center of attention.
C. She sees that she can't get concerts without a gimmick.
D. She realizes that most people can't tell a great performance from her lightweight one and exploits the fact that they are impressed with pop-style, skimpy dresses.

If this becomes the marketing focus for classical music, we have degraded a great treasure of our culture.

It takes Yuja's exquisite articulation and dynamic effects to actually make Glass' minimalism compelling!!!

Играет с вдохновением, свободно. Молодец. Для оператора - обычно показывают руки пианистов.

And how was the Lindberg concerto? You guys enjoying Esa-Pekka?

Last time I saw Yuja was right before lockdowns, she did a solo recital at Davies. Will have to start checking out the SFS again, now with Salonen.

I usually don't do cell phone videos but this is an exception. She's going to be playing a few hours from me next month. I might make the trip.
