There are numerous reasons why you might need to know the private IP address of any given hardware you currently have on your local home network. Something may not be connecting correctly, or your internet service provider might need to know the IP address of your hardware to help you fix a problem. You might even need to know the IP address to simply get set up on your home network.

We show you a simple way to get the private internal IP addresses of everything on your network using NMap!

My bad, I said public when I meant private. Thank you internets for correcting me.

Couple mistakes to point out to: First the 192.168 IP address is not your public IP. Second, the /24 is the subnet mask, which calculates what parts of bits you want to use in a specific domain. What you said (using all IP addresses in that range) is done using the wild card (*) which means from 1 to 255. But the way you did it is the right way, but you can just specify the IP without the subnet mask as well.

That is the most complicated way possible to find all the devices on your network. Download advanced IP scanner and it does it all for you. Advanced port scanner will do the same thing and show what ports are open on those devices. All free and virus free. Cnet or your favorite software download site will have them both.

Explaining how to use nmap to people that don't know how to use ipconfig is bad mmmkay
MS-Windows 7 has an internal mapping system.
Instead of clicking Change Adapter Settings on the left, click See Full Map on the right.
Omg right?
