So true. Finally in a good place in my life because I left my depression and body dysmorphia behind. Took months of work. But well worth it.

This is as simple as it sounds, but not as easy as it sounds. Especially when the anxiety is a legitimately rational and appropriate response to real danger.

I get the sense that an important part of combating social anxiety is learning to be content with oneself

Something else important is taking care of your health. Exercise, nutritious/regular meals, healthy body fat, SLEEP…etc. these things make working on destructive thought patterns much easier. Your body wants to find equilibrium

As an African friend tells me, "Harvest wheat when the sun shines".

Finally content and at peace of who I am. Struggled my whole life then needed meds for eight years, did a lot of inner work and counseling and have rewired my thoughts and beliefs and reactions and actions..it’s a working progress. It’s like climbing stairs that never disappear, but I’d rather climb up than fall back down…😮

It’s like exercising!! U have to keep doing it to stay mental fit.

Happiness is always internal you cannot find it outside of you

Yes! Happiness regardless of external circumstances!

I learned this the hard way I'm glad someone was able to explain it in a way that it makes sense 😊

I noticed that for myself. I focused on doing things that are good for my internal self and now improving my external life feels almost effortless

Part of me has always intuitively understood this, but my parents were really bad at teaching me most things in life. Instead of realising that since the mind is the source behind all my issues and solutions, i looked at it as people who are struggling are simply weak and unable to overcome their own minds. Im glad ive learned on my own not to see things that way because its truly a beautiful world when all you need to be happy is yourself. Even in shitty situations i find it hard to be stuck in a sad or angry rut for long until the self awareness rises up and reminds me im in control. Truly an amazing life weve been forutnate enough to be given.

This is so true. If you want something badly, you're only focused on how you don't have it now and now feel bad. If you align your focus, then you can get what you want and that feels empowering, which is good

All I had to do to be happy is to be happy :)

j/k aside, but I feel like it's legit that simple. An optimistic mindset can lead to optimistic ends

so true I am a heavy set guy with health issues thank you trauma...lol but I am content now and happy 99% of the time and the effect compounds over time as you start moving away from the Insecurities and self doubt.

For me, I’ve been seeing that as I practice gratitude & look more for things I’m thankful for going on around me or in my life, that I find happiness & degrees of joy which have helped me improve myself & my life. I’ve still got plenty of work to do, but I’m thankful for what I have & how God has been helping me improve so much lately! ☀️

I'm sure you hear this in many ways...but wow. You are saving a life right now.

As someone who went from agorophobic to able to get to the gym, those percentages were progressive for me. 1%-5%-10% contentment helped get out of my bedroom without overwhelming anxiety, then my house with someone, then by myself for short trips, etc. But it didn't move in a straight line at all. 2 steps forward and one step back was the norm, but what I had to do was be kind to myself for those backward steps and have the patience to not do too much at once. Doing too much at once will set you back.
