This type of tragedies make you realize that owning material stuff is not a guarantee of anything. These people lost their houses, their cars, all of their belongings. Being alive and healthy is what truly matters.

The saddest part about all the tsunami videos from Japan, is hearing the poor people having to sit there on top of a building or hill, and watch their whole towns being destroyed and them knowing that people are dying as well. Just heartbreaking.

I never want to experience or witness this in my entire life. The Japanese are strong people.

I watch these videos only rarely, to remind myself to take the dangers seriously when they come. Thank you for helping me keep myself safe.

As a Japanese person, I am very happy to see so many people here praying for Japan. I was only 5 years old and at home in Tokyo when this earthquake occurred, but I remember being very scared of the fairly large shaking. As I write this, a tsunami has hit the area along the Sea of Japan. Japan has many natural disasters due to its geographical location. Once again, blessings to everyone overseas. from Japan.🇯🇵🌏

I hope the people who survived this nightmare are better now. I can't imagine the suffering they must have gone through.

terrifying... it's much less a wave and more a case of the sea level suddenly going up by 10m

5:03 Someone shouting at the town "I thank you, dad. I'll never forget you." This probably the first time for me to hear a real farewell and I.. I don't know what to say

My heart goes out to the people who have lost their homes and loved ones due to these calamities. Their strength is admirable

Given the scale of the disaster, I have always found it hard to believe that only 20, 000 died.

Despite how tragic and horrifying this was...it's amazing to live in a time where we can record and experience these events over the internet. We get to witness one of the most powerful tsunamis in recorded history. Never underestimate mother nature...even this isn't the worst of what she is capable of. Hope those who had to go through this in person have managed to find peace in the aftermath and recovery.

4:07 is probably the most devastating footage I've ever seen of a natural disaster, those homes lasted two seconds once the water reached them. With those winding streets you'd only be given about five seconds of warning to see that there is a wall of buildings coming at you. I can only imagine how many people were caught in that.

at 4:52 you can see people and vehicles trying to escape. I can only imagine the deafening chaos that surrounded these unfortunate evacuees and I wonder if the vehicles made it

Unimaginable destruction: I cannot fathom witnessing a disaster on this scale; prayers for all those whose homes, loved ones, businesses, were caught up in this event!

The event was terrible enough… but to hear the people crying as well as the children trying to understand. The cemetery of departed loved ones and ancestors overlooking the town as houses are moved around like chess pieces and Cars like tub toys. Resilient people and determined. I wish all a sense of peace and strength
