FACT/S - The Wicked Witch is not loving what some fans have been doing with the new Wicked movie poster. Cynthia Erivo hopped on Instagram to express her frustration after seeing fans edit the poster for her upcoming film with Ariana Grande. The original poster for the movie is kind of a tribute to the classic Broadway one. But some fans went ahead and changed it up digitally to make it look more like the original.
Here's what went down: people gave Cynthia’s character a bold red lip, pulled her hat down even more over her face, and then stretched out Ariana's character’s fingers to cover more of her face. Cynthia wasn’t feeling it, though. She shared that these edits actually hurt her feelings, especially since she uses her eyes to convey so much emotion as an actor, which is super important in the poster.
She explained that the movie’s poster isn't supposed to be an exact copy of the Broadway one, and she would rather people appreciate the fresh take. After that, she posted the original film image again, probably as a way to clear things up and reset the vibe. What do you think?

Low key the bigger this story gets, the more it’ll make people skip the theatre release . Why give money to a movie that actively denounces a dedicated fan base. Chances are the broadway show would’ve eventually run out of steam by 2005. It was the loud out cry all over the early interwebs that solidified wicked as a pop culture juggernaut . Only few musicals can do without a single adaption

If she is such a good actress with her eyes, then she should realize that covering up the eyes can also convey emotions.

They say eyes are the windows to the soul. By covering up the witch's eyes, it prevents the viewer from be able to read the witch's intentions. Also by using red lipstick to emphasize the smirk, it gives the viewer an unsettling feeling, like something "wicked" is going on.

The original poster tells so much with so little, while the new poster just feels dead. She may be a good actress, but she is not a graphic designer.

You can love the original (the original movie poster) and still like a fan version of it. Why do you have to be hurt by something that frankly won’t matter two weeks after the movie’s released.

When will these actresses learn that a) they are not their characters and b) fan art is freedom of artistic expression and if Hollyweird can ‘reimagine’ well-known and well-loved stories, fans can reimagine Hollywood’s reimaginings.

What I think people need to understand she could have Elon money at the end she still has feelings and whether you think it a big deal or not it was to her and I’m also not seeing anyone talk about the fact that the point of the edit was to “capture the essence” of the play poster but failed to do anything remotely accurate to Glinda on the poster so it in fact did not it could have been a race thing or maybe the artist doesn’t find Cynthia attractive or maybe there just an ari Stan idk but to act like she not allowed to have feelings and /or she should just be grateful and shut up is a bit weird considering everyone was just so hand in hand when it came to the actors strike maybe another strike and no media for another year will do y’all right🤷‍♀️

What is the surprise? Wicked witch of the west is mean to fan while Glenda the Good tries to smooth things out! They are just staying in character. They are really making this into a two part movie??? That seems like the bigger story, seems like a one shot to me.
