You’re amazing the way you always use just enough epoxy to do the job. Zero waste. And you’d make an awesome dentist. Just like to add that we love the music you choose for all your videos. Unintrusive and relaxing. 🤩👍

This boat is going to be an amazing work of art. I cant hardly wait until you launch and start sailing the world on all your wonderful adventures. Your child is going to have an amazing life with all the places and people you are going to see. Im 73 with some life ending health issues and I hope I'm still around to watch you and your families many wonderful adventures, thats my goal and hopefully I'll be given the time to enjoy living this life by watching you and your wonderful family. God bless, stay safe and love life.

I greatly admire how meticulous you are to every detail. I wish I had your patience and skill to take on a project like yours.

Nicely done! During the video, I was thinking it must need to be vented. But of course, you had a plan. Amazing work you do, and the video quality continues to improve.

Will be testing out the casting of threads for application in my own boat. If it works out it solves a few problems for me. Also strikes me how comfortable Matt has become talking to the camera. The whole production is so slick. Look forward to every instalment.

Such a great project and I've been happy to follow along. Inspector music gave me quite a chuckle. Thanks!

It’s morning. Duracell is the first program of my day today, watching Matt start the battery box. The soft piano music at the beginning went very well with my cup of coffee. Thank you.

Proud smile at the fade-out. Matt is pleased with himself... deservedly so!

The battery box looks great! Food for thought, on my previous boat I put a pad eye on the overhead directly above the battery box hatch cover. It made chain falling batteries in and out much easier. Something you might want to consider

I am a bit worried.
That is a lot of flammable materials.
In case of a battery event, the boat could be fully gone.
The battery is placed at the main entry, condemning it in case of fire.
You won’t have time to unscrew everything (24 screws!) and at the extreme send the battery to the sea if you even can touch it.
The BMS is not foolproof .
The experience of “Gone with the Wynns” proves it.
They were lucky to smell it and access it quickly and disconnect it before auto-combustion !
The fumes were quite bad too. You need gas masks in case.
They had a secondary battery and circuit placed somewhere else on the boat to pull them out of this horrible event, at sea.
At the beginning, I thought you were going to build a steel box, even a double-skin steel box.
Steel to avoid the flames spreading.
And you still need to remove all this power, all the calories. You probably want to be able to FLOOD, yes flood the battery compartment and avoid a steam bomb too !
Is there a specific request from insurance or regulations on electric propulsion and batteries?
Fantastic project and family.

That’s a really nice battery box. That will also be a lot of batteries so hopefully that will take care of a lot of your power requirements. Thank youn for explaining what you are doing and why. Several other sailors working on their boats just do the work and say “I made this or I made that” and, in my humble opinion, it doesn’t really explain what was done and what it took to create whatever it was they made. It really helps make it clearer to know what your thought process was/is and why you made something the way you did. Thank you for that information as it really makes the videos mean something and it’s clearer to know what’s being done with each episode.

Yeah that Dewalt angle adapter is an absolute life saver for custom work. I have 4 different types for my shop. It's one of those tools with no real substitute and only a but load of way harder work to do a job with out it.

Im a tech and work on a mine

We have comms trailers about 80 of them that we look after.

They have 48v 460 amp. Hour batteries. A lot have 2 of these batteries.

Things to note make your storage adaptable. We swap these supposedly 10 to 20 year life span REGULARLY

36k each.

Towing them breaks them. I think the same way a boat on the ocean would. Just keep in mind your plan may have to adapt and change quickly.

Next

If you use all thread to hold them down then run it through a small pipe or tube so they don’t chew through the casing. The batteries will move and if they rub against all thread they will wear and quickly. Lithium batteries are not as bad as lead acid batteries as you wont spill acid everywhere when it does wear through.

We had a fire due to this and it got

Exciting… quickly!

One thing that surprised me big time is even with 1600 watts of solar they charge quick. But with so much dust on the panel that you cant see the panels you still get charge into the batteries.

The hybrid system you are going with sounds bloody good! I have tried to get a 48v mobile generator so we can recharge dead batteries easy. I will watch what you do here closely
