I’ve received multiple requests for a review of StudioWeb, produced by Stefan Mischook.

Stef is one of the few people in tech education actively engaged in teaching PHP, so this was an exciting platform to explore.

But does StudioWeb deliver? We’re checking out StudioWeb by Stefan Mischook in today’s review!

Pros: -Taught by industry veteran
-Nice mix of technologies: HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Python/PHP/MySQL
-PHP 7! (!!!!!!)
-Manageable video & course lengths
-Fair price ($39.99)

Cons:
-No major JavaScript projects
-Student Support: difficult to find/use
-Difficult to track progress

Final verdict?

I recommended this platform for people wanting a great introduction to PHP.

StudioWeb can also be a good “remedial education” option if you’ve found online coding bootcamp to be too much.

I took his python course and finished it. He makes it fun and lighthearted. Very good price too. Before i tried udemy and coursera but couldn't finish it. Stef makes fun and digestable content.

Great insight into the industry. I really appreciate you shedding some light onto other tech stacks as well. Btw, what do you recommend for laravel education? And do you think a crash course in php would suffice to jump into laravel?

I dropped out of LearnAcademy for that reason, it is not taught well. Teaching is a whole separate skill than just knowledge

Stef is a good teacher, but his courses are missing too much stuff and he does not do anything to bring them up to speed. RTC tells it like it is, missing big projects, missing frameworks, missing even JS ES6 imo is unacceptable. I would look elsewhere to be perfectly honest, unless you are a total and complete newbie, then this could be like a stepping stone, so you can then move on to better more complete courses like say, Colt Steel.
