How To Properly Increase Heavy Ammo Drops - Destiny 2

I've gathered data on all of the ways you can increase heavy ammo drops in Destiny 2, to definitively say what is the most efficient way to get more heavy ammo.

I cover all the heavy ammo mods, as well as how different weapons choices can affect your ammo drop rates, such as an exotic primary or double special weapon loadouts. At the end I give my opinion on what is the optimal way to build around getting ammo without completely taking away your ability to build-craft.

got into double special a few days ago, it feels so good to not have to farm heavy ammo for half an hour before a damage phase and it gives a lot more options for weapon combos that do real damage

it's worth mentioning that if you're low on special ammo when running double special, simply get a few kills with your heavy. Like, really few, you're pretty much guaranteed a green brick within the first 5 kills, and considering just how much heavy ammo you get with double special it's usually well worth it.

I think part of why the Exotic Primary + Special is as high as it is, beyond the normal "it makes sense, " is that Wish-Ender and Malfeasance right now are absolute monsters and are doing special weapon levels of damage without the ammo limitations. These are honestly some of the only primary weapons that ever end up in my loadouts because they're just too damn good.

Just a heads up the reckoning shotgun and the new iron banner fusion rifle both roll with Discord which allows you infinite special ammo as long as you switch back and forth thus making double specials more efficient. Discord is truly an S-Tier perk when used the right way.

Great video, one thing that i have experienced is that if I’m running double specials and need special ammo. I just equip my heavy and kill something with my melee. It spawns special ammo. If i need heavy simply equip special weapon and kill something with a melee and it drops ammo every time whenever it is needed

Double special feeds you heavy - but heavy kills also feed you special. Destiny seems to give you ammo much more frequently if it's not the gun you're using. If you have a heavy that can also be used on ads, that can help give you green, so you can then use that and go back to making purple. There are a few activities where you burn through so much ammo that double special can be tricky but not many.

Also side note, using double special and low-ish on ammo, if you get a kill with your heavy there is ALMOST a guaranteed chance of getting some special.

Been running double special since early Lightfall, and gotta say, it is amazing. I personally still use finders, so I can also throw on a scout mod for my team, but it's good to know that I can be more fluid in my load out. Personally dying for Destiny to add a legendary kinetic/strand/stasis trace so I can use an energy exotic, but even with a slightly restricted loadout with traces in the special, being a lightshow with freakin laser beams is always fun.

Anyway, thanks for doing the work and collecting the data. The Destiny community never fails to amaze me with the spreadsheet proficiency.
