Why use Windows Terminal Server? that is a good question and I hopeful answer this , if not please comment below :)

What is a terminal server –

A terminal server is a server or network device that enables connections to multiple client systems to connect to a LAN network without using a modem or a network interface. Microsoft introduced this concept by releasing terminal services as a part of the Windows Server operating system

How to find me?

Disadvantages :

- When server needs a reboot -> all users are impacted
- Printer issues (if multiple printers are present)
- Software issues (not all software runs smooth on terminal servers)
- Maintenance is needed (if a user stays logged in for 30+ days, glitches / bugs start to happen)
- Licensing is a hassle sometimes with MS
- If server is in a data center, a good internet connection is needed (and no internet connection = no work environment)

We have a class at college about windows server and your video was very helpful, thank you. Do you install a base operating system on the client machines - how do they connect to the terminal server, do they have to have an operating system installed in order to launch the rdp connection?

Could u game on a terminal server on your home Network? I am a Network Tecnichian in Sweden and a gamer on my free time and in my work i know Most on the terminal services topic i need but i have never thought about the gaming part of terminal computing. Is it even possible to install gpus on the server and render games to the thin klients via the Network? Speedwise over fiberchannel i guess is not the problem but is it even possible to channel the video output like that? Probably a stupid question from a Network Tecnichian but i have never thought about it before.
