Many forget that it is mainly about the movies and series. Books and comics are considered as individual points. LOTR is a fantastic Frenchman, but unfortunately the movies couldn’t convey it as well as the books. And yes LOTR trilogy has won many Oscars, but you have to say that it was mostly only about the books that some wanted to watch the film adaptation! On the other hand, Star Wars Episode IV, when flop was expected. It is not difficult to make a film adaptation a popular novel, it is far more risky to spend around 500 million on a film, although you do not know whether it will be successful at all. This film was a milestone it came out 3 years earlier than „The Fellowship“ and won 2 Oscars more. LOTR is a masterpiece in terms of the books and it is not a bad film adaptation in itself, for example it has few film flaws.

Comparison of antagonists:

But if you only look at the Main Villans, it looks bad for LOTR. While Darth Vader seems threatening in the movies (and can only be defeated by his son with his dark side): Rebels, Rogue One, Jedi Fallen Order and also in the Obi wan series show how strong and almost invincible he is. Shows us LOTR Sauron who in the first part simply loses his ring because of his stupidity and has been defeated by a human. The Nazgul who are not scary because they are afraid of simple fire. In Hobbit, on the other hand, they are threatening for the first time. In the books Sauron is also a joke, can someone enlighten me that Sauron is a Maier (A max. Half God) against a human king and an elven king loses. This is like Darth Vader losing to Cal Kestis and Ahsoka (When he not holding back). In the games, Sauron is much more threatening, he defeats Celebrimbor (without the Ring) with Left.

Heroes comparison:

In LOTR we have as main protagonists:

Frodo Baggins: A Hobbit who inherits the One Ring and embarks on a quest to destroy it.

Samwise Gamgee (Sam): Frodo’s loyal friend and gardener who accompanies him on his journey.

Aragorn: The heir to the throne of Gondor, a skilled ranger, and a member of the Fellowship.

Legolas: An Elven prince and master archer from Mirkwood.

Gimli: A Dwarf warrior, son of Glóin, and a member of the Fellowship.

Gandalf: A powerful wizard who guides and helps the Fellowship.

Boromir: A nobleman of Gondor, son of Denethor, who joins the Fellowship.

Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry): A brave Hobbit and cousin of Frodo who joins the quest.

Peregrin Took (Pippin): The Clumsy.

Star Wars, on the other hand, has in the original trilogy:

Luke: One of the Last Jedi who must fight his father.

Lea: Rebellion leader and twin sister of Luke.

Han Solo: Development from mercenary to hero, a strong relationship with Lea.

Chewbacca: Han Solo’s best friend and a strong fighter

C-3PO: A protocol droid that has a close relationship with R2-D2 and has transported the Death Star plans with it.

R2-D2: A droid who can hack a lot and usually accompanies Luke.

These are the heroes who are in all three films.

Which heroes do you prefer, the one from LOTR or the one from Star Wars?

I only compared the original trilogy with the LOTR trilogy, because it’s fairer that way.

Great edit + I agree with u. All time star wars expands into so many different elements - ther r multiple movies, tv shows, games etc. It had a bigger impact globally. It is very difficult to beat. I would say mid-high or high diff tho.
