For those who are commenting that this video is wrong, the animation shows the path of the moon's shadow, not the sun.

The video shows the yellow shaded area is the Umbra or the shadow of the moon. The shadow is coming from the west to the east, and, the shadow is getting longer which shows the moon is setting and vanishing to the horizon at the west. What we can actually see on May 20 afternoon is, depending on the location, in the afternoon, the moon is somehow also going to the west horizon and pass right in front of the sun. The moon blocks the sun for a couple minutes, then the moon keep setting and gone.

I am planning to drive up north with a few of my friends/family about 3 hours from home. I am in the Bay Area but I would want to see the eclipse from at least inside the line where Yuba City is. :D

certainly ... it all depends on where you live, and when!

Won't see it in Florida, it will happen 'after sunset' there ... in NM and west Texas, it will be happening just as the sun is setting. So, if you were there and couldn't see the western horizon, you couldn't see it either. In northern CA, the sun will still be about 20 degrees 'up' from the horizon at max eclipse ... I hope there's no clouds!

only if you're in far west OK (panhandle) ... and then, can see the western horizon (and there's no clouds).

Why does the eclipse end so abruptly in Texas? Is it the point where the earth rotates away from the alignment of the moon and sun?

if the eclipse happens as shown that means the sun would have to rise in the west and set in the east impossible unless earth has started to rotate backwards

The eclipse will happen as shown and the sun would not rise from the west. You misinterpret the information.
