Do not use the plastic splicers-type hose connectors-they do not last. I have a Frankenstein hose where I had to cut/splice a few permanent kinks, and put in part of another hose to make a custom length. With a premium 3/4” hose hitting $100 (75 to 100 ft) and the metal double clamp (not ring with screw advance) about $10, one can afford to refurbish a premium older hose. Use a little petroleum jelly in the hose to get the connector to go in easily.

Pro tip: use a magnifying glass and the sun to revulcanize a better repair of its own material without cutting the hose. Everyone knows this.

If the water from broken pipe area is also going in to Garden than you do need to fix it, any way water is leaking in to grass, thats what you are doing anyway, giving water to your grass . Thanks

think I've had luck in the past with tape + a few zip ties on top

Cut at the leak and insert a short piece of scrap conduit. Zip tie both sides.

I got a bunch of Plastic Quick Connects and they are all Kind of Trash. Even the metal quick connects leak like a sieve.

The plastic ones pop apart as well but they are easy to connect and unconnect. The metal ones don't come apart very easy once they get wet and they are way more difficult than an Air Hose Quick Connect. Talk about a pain in the rear end.
