This guy is not wrong but just some food for thought...
This guy is switching between classical and blues style hand positions, and in reality you need to learn both. If you play mostly rhythm then blues style is fine. But if you want to play lead guitar, you should just fight through it and learn to play classical. It is infinitely easier to learn to play blues style after learning classical, so much so that a lot of intermediate guitarists stall out and never progress because they need to undo years of learning just to get through some solos that REQUIRE a classical hand position to play.
